I took a few shots with an enlarging lens mounted
on a bellows today using a schneider 135mm F5.6
Componon-S. As expected, the results were more than
satisfactory. About as good as can be expected from
35mm film. I also tried larger fstops but the depth
of field was insufficient.
And just last week, I was using that exact lens in an enlarger...
How did you attach the lens to the bellows? Did they make an M42
version, or are you using an adapter?

Mike,
Which enlarging lenses worked the best for you and TX?
Just curious,

Hi Bob,
I've always used Rodenstock enlarging lenses. Best lens I ever owned (till
now) was an 80/4 Apo-Rodagon--sweet thing. I used it for everything from
35mm to 2 1/4 square. In recent years I've used a 50mm f

Thanks for the heads-up.
I actually inherited my father's V35 whch came with
the Leitz 40. It has performed very well, but then I
haven't compared it to anything else except the Nikkor

Bob,
It does do well, esp. for bw, just not as well as the best 50mm lenses.

Hi Ed ...
I've a 23CII as well with the Dichro head. Could you please explain
this adjustment you've made to the bellows?
I use a 50/2.8 APO Rodagon and have not noticed any light fall off with
that lens, nor with the 80mm Componon-S. I bought the enlarger used and

I remember I had light falloff on my Meopta enlarger. It disappeared when I
removed the filter tray. That wasn't needed anyway with the colour head.

As mentioned already by Shel, yes this appears as a hot spot in the
center and less light at the corners. Of course,

Welcome to the list. I have a EL-Nikkor 50/2.8 that I like
well enough, except it suffers from falloff above about f/8.

Yes. Sometimes using a smaller aperture (stopping down) will correct or
minimize the problem.

All condensor enlargers and pretty much all of the amateur
grade diffuser rigs have uneven illumination. An easy (though
inefficient from a printing time POV) fix is to add a second
diffuser, either just inside the mixing
making contact sheets.
Thanks,

I don't remember who said that but I do recall that the poster seemed
reliable.
