A sad consequence of all this is that Altium actually lose sales and the
community bcomes more closed as a result of cracked versions in
circulation. A university lecturer friend tells me that ALL the students in
his classes have got hold of (and sometimes use!) cracked versions of Protel

I can't check this right now, but maybe another tip helps you. For any
print output related issues, FinePrint has been serving me well for many
years. It is a virtual printer driver that sits between the apps and the
real printer driver, has a preview and provides

Windows clipboard are still problematic - and I suspect that that is *still*
the case within the current version of AD 2006.)

Hi,
I have created a simple footprint for a component that supports 2
different
physical packages ( a pcb-mount pot, 1 on 0.1 pitch

had not been fully spot on), then at least the pH of the board in its very
final state would still be closer to 7.0 than would otherwise be the case.

Hi Jakub,
It's too bad that AD6 isn't a possibility for you, as a multi-channel
design is
*much* easier with AD6. Otherwise a lot of manual intervention is
required. You might check out the multi-channel design demo's just to see
what AD6 could do for you
to Internal Plane layers; it is no longer necessary
to use through-hole pads instead to connect to those layers.)

Hmm...
Everyone has a standard for THEIR use of mech layers.
Mech layers are, by default, not specified
2.8 files in Altium Designer 2004 (and I suspect the previous and
succeeding versions (of DXP and AD6 respectively) as well).
So if you want to go from AdvPcb 2.8 to Altium Designer, it would definitely
be preferable to resave the file(s) using Protel 99 SE as an intermediate
step.
