Hello Bode,
You obviously purposefully asked your browser not to parse you php code. You
are linking to a javascript instead of a php file. It's this simple; if you are
create a .php file and u wish to incorporate it in your html code, you should
use a function called include();. Simply try something like:

Let me know what u get from that.

Hello Ash,
Could that be termed as "aiding and abetting" that 'nice fellow from Nigeria'?.
Let me know your term for it and while you're at it, could you not spend the

Someone has got to pay for this!!!
How dare you interrupt my 30years vampiric sleep over such trivial issue as top
posting?. Now Tony you've been a good lad but this has got to end now! What's
all the fuss about you not been able to abide by the rules here? If you can't
abide, then simply leave (methinks the person that sent the mail in your name
was actually trying to do you a favour).
On the other hand, Daniel, what happened to that button with which you can ban
any defauters on the list? is it broken?
Moreover, there seem to be one point that everybody's been missing all the
while. since this argument started (or specifically somewhere along the line),
Marston actually started following the rules. He has stopped top-posting
without him even knowing it. Check his last few replies and you'll see.

The sun is up now so I got to return to my coven.

No more arguments guys.

Or simply avoid CSS and revert to pure HTML. At least there won't be

[PHP] How do I access a local variable?

2009-04-19 Thread abdulazeez alugo

Hi guys,

I have a function inside which I set alocal variable to store a result. Can I
access this variable in another function? if yes then how?

function tbl1($entrytitle, $entrytext)

{

global $conn;

$result= mysql_query("INSERT INTO tbl1(tbl1_id, title, text)

 VALUES('NULL', '$entrytitle', '$entrytext')", $conn);

 $tbl_id=mysql_insert_id($conn);// this is the local variable I'm setting
to get the last auto increment id

}

Now I wish to access that variable in another function thus:

function tbl2($name, $entrytitle, $entrytext)

{

global $conn;

$result =mysql_query("INSERT INTO tbl2(tbl1_id, name, title, text)

   VALUES('$tbl1_id', '$name', '$entrytitle',
'$entrytext' )", $Conn);

}

Or is there a better way to store the variable?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Luke,

class RecipeCreator
 {
 private $rtitle;
private $problem;
private $solution;

function __construct ($t, $p, $s)
 {
if(!isset($t, $p, $s))
 {
 throw new Exception ('Missing parameters for
 __construct, need $title $problem and $solution');
 }

I think the problem was with the $title. As above, you defined the private
variable $rtitle but you were trying to call the variable later as $title.

Cheers.

Hi,

Well I'ld say the reason is quite obvious. You have simply not set
$_session["username"] . I'ld have done something like:

-- option.php --
http://intra.mdah.state.ms.us/helpdesk/viewpending.php?PHPSESSID='.SID);//
I'ld use SID
 }
 ?>

--viewpending.php -

I hope this helps. try it.

Cheers

Hi Ron,

One thing you should know is that when you use $_GET, you'll be sending a
little information about the particular page to the browser and therefore it
would be displayed in the address bar so for example if you're using get on a
login page, you'll be showing user id and passwrod in the address bar. $_POST
does the exact opposite of $_GET in that aspect and it's ideal. $_REQUEST does
both.

Hope this helps.
Cheers.

Hi LizOh!!! that hurts.

Now I'm really thinking yours is an auto reply mail else you should know that
you already on the list or how did you get here in the first place? did you
register on the PHP site at all?. The thing is, if you wanna send a message and
you want everybody to see it, send it to php-general@lists.php.net and if you

I hope you understand that.

Quite frankly, I asked myself that same question earlier but I thought Dan was
in charge of such stuffs. He's been very quiet on a lot of things lately. Hey
guys, does anyone know where Dan's been? i'm guessing he's gone on a short
course or maybe AWOL.

Cheers.

I actually thought you were going to point out to our guest that this is a
mailing list for PHP-related issues only. And we're not here to get paid for
our opinions are we??? I won't blame anybody going for the offer though but the
point remains, this is a PHP-Mailing list.

Hi Roly,

You're definitely welcome to this mailing list full of incredibly intelligent
people I never knew existed. However, I advice that you still read through the
tutorials you have because I think you have not installed apache properly.

Hello guys,

The list seems boring to me today so I've come up with an idea (you can call it
a challenge). What if we all wrote to this thread in PHP codes. on't get the
gist yet? well all it means is that, on this thread, all that we should see
must be written in PHP codes and it must be meaningful and relevant to any
discussion on ground. The challenge starts. Now!

Ok man, I'm sorry.

This post i wrote in a few days ago in my native language. I dont have time

I'm sorry about that man,but if you like the post anyway, try something like

Well. Since it's not a common thing on this mailing list to hear someone say
he's sorry I readily accept your apology and I'll use the google translator as
you suggested. Come to think of it, arguments almost never end well on this
list (we just broke the record). Remember the one between Almighty, self
acclaimed Superstar Dan and Bot Jessica? then there was the one between the
client who later became the employer and Tedd.

Cheers.

Well I guess the answer to that is obvious. I'm not brazilian and it would be
so generous of you

to use the most acceptable International language in the world (English).
Though it's not my first language too but

I use it as a mean to communicate with others. Atleast the essence of
communication is to be understood isn't it?

NOTE: I speak other international languages too though but I haven't come up to
learning brazilian. Maybe you can

help me with a simple tutorial on your language.

Best regards.

[PHP] MYSQL TABLES (One To Many Relationship)

2009-03-22 Thread abdulazeez alugo

Hi guys,

I need help on something I'm working on and its really eating me up so I'll
appreciate any help I can get on it.

I'm writing code for a site that posts a topic for discussion and accepts
comments (Just like a parliament).

There are different discussions for every day and the comments should be
displayed along with the corresponding topics per day.

Now I wrote the code below but dont know if I'm right. (I created two tables in
my database and to create a relationship between the tables, I put the id field
for the topics into the comments table):

\n";
 }
 }
}

?>

I know some of you will probably think its a stupid question but I'm going with
the school of thought that says the only stupid question is the one that's not
asked.

Thanks in anticipation of your positive responses.
