What does does not work mean? You need to say which OS, which PHP version,
what happens, and what you expect to happen. Not that I can help, as I know

It does work, you just didn't take the time to read the manual on how
to set it up. If you want to run webpages with it, you also need a
web server.

If you just want to try PHP on your local machine, you can also use
some pre packaged setups that combine the webserver, PHP and more.

It does, however if you're using Apache as your webserver, for PHP 5.3+
you won't be able to use the binaries from apache.org for Windows.
There is a link to Apache Lounge found here:
http://windows.php.net/download/ which instructs you to download a VC9

If you're using IIS, I think you can just download the version of PHP

[PHP] PHP Linux/Windows Outlook 2003 HTML email problem

2009-02-01 Thread German Geek
Hi All,

We've got a problem with our Ubuntu Linux machine sending HTML emails to
Outlook 2003:

It's an Ubuntu Server (uname -a
Linux CDR2-221 2.6.24-19-server #1 SMP Wed Jun 18 15:18:00 UTC 2008 i686
GNU/Linux)

with the newest version of Postfix installed as the Mail server.

Unfortunately, all emails sent as HTML, using the PEAR library for sending
email like so:

  public static function sendEmail($fromEmail, $recipientsEmails, $subject,
$txtBody, $htmlBody = null, $ccEmails = null) {
require_once 'Mail.php';
require_once 'Mail/mime.php';

$message = new Mail_mime();
$message-setTXTBody($txtBody);
if (!$htmlBody) $htmlBody = str_replace(\n, br /\n, $txtBody);
$message-setHTMLBody($htmlBody);
$message-setFrom($fromEmail);
if ($ccEmails) {
  if (!is_array($ccEmails)) $ccEmails = array($ccEmails);
  foreach ($ccEmails as $cc) {
$message-addCc($cc);
  }
}
//$message-addCc(m...@insiteorg.com);
$message-setSubject($subject);

$body = $message-get();
$headers = $message-headers();

$mail = Mail::factory(mail);
if (!is_array($recipientsEmails)) $recipientsEmails =
array($recipientsEmails);
foreach ($recipientsEmails as $mailto) {
  $mail-send($mailto, $headers, $body);
}
  }

arrive with only the plaintext part in Outlook 2003 (and only in Outlook
2003). All other email programs (Outlook 2007 e.g.) seem to work fine with
the formatting.

This only started happening on the Linux machine and works fine when emails
are sent by a windows host or another mail server from the ISP. So i suspect
it must be the setup of Postfix on that machine that is not quite correct.

Other than that, i get the following messages from PHP, apparently the PEAR
library has some (strinct) warnings which i thought should be ok:

Well, I don't know what you mean by a known issue. All your message says is
that PHP 5 does not support MySQL. Yes, it does. It has no problem. I have
installed it and used it a million times. So, you are doing something wrong.

Did you test PHP 5 by itself, to make sure that it works without accessing
MySQL? Did you test MySQL by itself, to be sure the server is running
correctly when it is accessed outside of PHP 5.

Did you install MysQL using its installer? That's the best way. What version
of MySQL? What Windows?

Did you turn cgi.force_redirect off in the php.ini file? You have to do that
if you are using IIS.

What error do you get?

 Activating MySQL in PHP 5 is pretty simple. Open the php.ini file and
 uncomment the line for the extension that you want to

 Using the mysql functions is described in the php documentation.

The error below is similar to what I got. I was also getting memory errors,

It's not that the file can't be found, it's something inside the file
breaking. Otherwise it would just say unable to find php_mysql.dll.

I'd say it's finding the mysql4 version of the dll and trying to include
it which ain't going to work if you want to talk to a mysql5 server.

[PHP] PHP 5, Windows, and MySQL

2006-06-26 Thread Beauford
Aside from my previous gd problems, here's another problem. It appears that
PHP5 (for Windows anyways) does not support MySQL (which in itself is
riduculous), but here's my problem. I have a script I just downloaded that
works perfectly on Linux/Apche/MySQL/PHP5, but when I run it on Windows 2000
with PHP 4.4 I get a page full of errors. Lets forget about the errors, does
anyone have any idea how to get PHP5 and MySQL to work on Windows. I have
already tried 100 different variations of things from information I found
searching out this problem, but maybe someone has a new idea.

If it were me I'd just run this site on Linux, but this is for a friend who

The fact that you get an invalid resource error from a mysql_xxx()
function indicates that you do indeed have a working MySQL lib. Looking
at the error further indicates that you are not passing a valid mysql
result handle to the function. Please show us the rest of the code where
you perform the query and attempt to retrieve the result. Since I see no
errors about connecting to the MySQL database, I assume that you have
that part working.

Cheers,
Rob.

I use apache2triad (http://apache2triad.net/) which is an AMP package with
PHP 5.
I vaguely remember the first time I installed it (on Win XP Pro though) I
got similar problems with MySQL. I uninstalled it and reinstalled as I
wasn't sure if I accidentally clicked a dialog box without reading what it
said then it worked ok.
HTH...

PS - I had GD working ok on a simple thumbnail generation script.

RE: [PHP] PHP 5, Windows, and MySQL

2006-06-26 Thread Beauford
From what I have been reading this is a known issue with PHP5. There is
something in the php_mysql.dll which is not compatible.

I wasted 3 hours today trying all the tips and tricks I could find, but the
bottom line is that it won't work.

This was my reason for posting to this group to see if anyone has any ideas.

Here is one of the many links I was looking at to try and solve this.

Activating MySQL in PHP 5 is pretty simple. Open the php.ini file and
uncomment the line for the extension that you want to use--php_mysql.dll or
php_mysqli.dll. Restart the web server.

Using the mysql functions is described in the php documentation.
http://us3.php.net/manual/en/ref.mysql.php or

That usually means you have the IP/domainname wrong.

If you are using 'localhost' try 127.0.0.1 instead, and if that works,
you just have to fix the hosts file that Windows doesn't provide by
default in some weird directory I'll never remember. info.com it.

If 127.0.0.1 is what you are using, try 'localhost' for fun.

If neither of those work, use the actual IP address of the machine.
Run the command winipcfg and it should tell you what the IP is in a
fancy window. Or, if not, because MS changed that this week,
ipconfig in an MS-DOS prompt, if it exists in Win2003, should do the
trick.

You can also use ping to figure out if the machine is there, unless
that's been turned off on the box.

Also try a different browser. IE often lies in its error messages.

Download the zip file of php-version and check to see if there are dlls
for that library...if yes...then copy those to your dll folder where
your other php dlls are. Uncomment that dll name in your php.ini file,
restart server and verify that the library is getting loaded.

[PHP] PHP imagick Windows DLL

2002-12-11 Thread Michael Montero
For any Windows users of PHP that want ImageMagick functionality built
into PHP, you can download the ImageMagick PHP DLL from here:

http://php.chregu.tv/php_imagick.dll

Christian Stocker was gracious enough to spend time figuring out how to
get it to work.

For the official imagick PEAR site, go here:

http://pear.php.net/package-info.php?package=imagick

For examples of using the functions, you should download the latest
version from the PEAR site and look at all the examples in the examples
directory contained in the tar.

[PHP] PHP and Windows Active Directory...

2002-08-21 Thread Glenn Sieb

I know that *ahem* theoretically Active Directory uses LDAP... has anyone
had any luck getting PHP to talk to Active Directory?

Basically I'd like to fool around with a webpage for a corporate directory
based on AD entries... if anyone has had any luck with this, I'd appreciate
it :)))

As always,
Thanks!

Working like a champ here.

I did have to make sure that I was connecting as a user who had
permission to browser the appropriate portions of the AD tree. (Our
network admins were pretty helpful in that regard...if you've got
specific questions about that side of things, I'll be happy to pass them

[PHP] PHP/Apache/Windows question

2002-03-10 Thread George E. Papadakis

Hello ,

I am using PHP 4.x on Windows/Apache 1.3.x.
Using the same confing on Linux , I can get something like
index.php/something/anotherSomething/blah blah.
Trying to do this windows just failes. I think it has to do with Apache
look back feature which for some reason is not working on Windows. The only
thing I get is premature end of headers error..
Any ideas what migh be wrong.?

[PHP] PHP/Apache/Windows 2000 - Does not send mail

2001-10-23 Thread Yuval Zukerman

Hi there,

I installed PHP 4.0.6 on a Windows 2000 machine running Apache 1.3.22.
I followed all the instructions for installation - added the php.ini file
to the C:\winnt directory, added php to httpd.conf. I tried both the module
and the CGI versions and the following problem still persisted:
Whenever I try to use the mail() function to send a an e-mail with a single
file attachment, I receive a server error.

If I set the SMTP variable in php.ini to localhost (where I am running an
SMTP server) , I receive a PHP error and Apache logs a 'Premature end of
script headers: C:/php/php.exe' error.
If my SMTP variable is set to either a remote host, php reports in the next
browser window of a server error at the line containing the mail() function
call.

Do I have a permissions issue with any of my files or directories? I did
not know how to set the IUSR_MachineName permissions as described in the
instructions. Do I need to create such a user? where do I find it if it exists?

Thanks for any response,

Yuval

RE: [PHP] PHP/Apache/Windows 2000 - Does not send mail

2001-10-23 Thread Nick Richardson

You need to make sure you have a few things configured on you SMTP Virtual
server.

Start IISAdmin and right click on 'Default SMTP Virtual Server' then choose
properties.

Ok, from here, things might not match perfectly because i'm running Windows
XP (no i didn't pirate it, i work for microsoft).

Under the access tab in access control, click authentication
make sure that anonymous access is checked.
you can leave basic auth and integrated windows auth checked also
click ok
click on relay under relay restrictions
add your local machine to the list allowed to relay, and enable relaying
go to the delivery tab
under outbound security, verify it's set to anonymous access.

If all this stuff is setup, you should be able to use mail() -

[PHP] Php on Windows not running!!! Any help ???

2001-08-10 Thread legal

Hello Everyone

I have installed php on my windows computer running with PWS.
PHP files are in c:\php folder.
I have placed test.php file in c:\inetpub\wwwroot folder on which I have
given execute permission.
When I call it in internet explorer as http://localhost/test.php it gives
an error as File not found --- Error 500 ?Internal Server Error. However,
my ASP files are running perfectly well.
What does it mean?
However, when run c:\php\php.exe ?i it shows some html codes which I
presume it is in order.

What should I do to run my PHP files.

I used to use PWS, but now I use Apache, maybe I can help. Did you:
. move the php.ini and php4ts.dll to your system folder
. put the correct path in the registry editing file and double click it
. check the box for 'Execute' in your PWS administration

Except when it is compiled in standalone mode, PHP works through a web
server. Judging from posts on the list, Apache is the best bet, rather
than MSFT's PWS or IIS.

If you're running XP, do a test and share the info!

[PHP] PHP 4.0.5 Windows 2000 Server Getting Rid Of The Windows Authentication Still Being Able To Access PHP

2001-06-18 Thread Speakeasy News

Dear All;

Hi, this I imagine should be an easy question for some of the ex[perts out
there so please help. I have install PHP 4.0.5 on a WIndows 2000 Server SP2
with IIS CGI; and am using the php.exe. When I try and access a page
generated using php say like http://domain.com/page.php I get the Windows
2000 logon windows comes up. If I log in the page works fine, also I'm able
to access http://domain.com/cgi-bin/page.pl files without them bringing up
the logon screen.

I've gone into the web site properties and have recreated the site with all
anonymous setting and I still get the same thing When I go into Web Site
Security and turn off the Windows Authenicatiion I get you are not
authorized to view this page even though it set to anonymous.

I've tried it usieng the deafult web site, creating a brand new web site,
still get the same thing. When I go and change the permissions on the
php.exe from within it's file properites and add more users I get CGI ERROR
Headers Not Acting right and not returning what they should and then it's
just blank, it never tells me what it isn't returning.

Also, I have the directory set up to allow everyone to read run scripts
and executables, just not write

No matter what I do I either get yuou are not authorized to view this page,
or the logon screen and if I logon it works, or the CGI ERROR I mentioned
earlier.

I don't understand why I'm able to run a perl script and not a php
executable. I also get the same stuff if I try and access it locally on the
same machince it resides on.

I hope this gives you enough info to answer my question please help before I
really mess things up.

Sincerely

Brian
