Thanks You seem to have a problem with the DNS server of your server, does: ping pear.php.net give you the IP address of a pear server or does it fail? 90% sure that it will fail, and probably because there's a wrong configuration setting for DNS. (DNS is for hostname- IP conversion). If you can't fix the DNS, you can always modify RPC.php, to change pear.php.net to 216.92.131.66, which is the IP if I ping pear.php.net. Note that this isn't a fix, but only a workaround, and the IP of the pear server might change someday and then your stuck with the old IP. So really try to fix the DNS problem.. Hello All, I am not sure if this is the right place to post this problem. I tried with FreeBSD mailing list but could not get much help. I am having hard time in installing php4 using portupgrade in FreeBSD. First i have updated the port directory using cvsup. I am doing fresh installation of php so i gave the following command. portupgrade -NPRri mod_php4. I noticed mysql3.23.51 got updated to mysql3.23.58_2. All the other dependencies also had no problem in updating. However the php installation was not successful. At the end of installation i got the following errors. Command failed [exit code 1] /usr/bin/script -qa /tmp/portupgrade23698.1 make mysql-client-3.23.58 is already installed or may be older version blah blah blah... you can uninstall and reinstall mysql blah blah blah ...to install correctly. If you really want to override without deleting use FORCE_PICG_REGISTER blah blah I also tried to install php after doing make clean in /usr/ports/databases/mysql323-client but it did not help me. I've installed PHP and Apache countless times but it seems I have forgotten something somehow because I can't for the life of me get apache to install PHP as a static module. Argh ...! I'm trying to get PHP 4.3.0, Apache 1.3.27, openssl-0.9.7, mod_ssl-2.8.12-1.3.27 all working together but to no avail. The best I can get is a mod_ssl aware apache server, but no PHP. These are the steps I am following. Can anyone spot my error? # cd openssl-0.9.7 # ./config -no-thread # cd .. # cd mod_ssl-2.8.12-1.3.27/ # ./configure --with-apache=../apache_1.3.27/ # cd ../apache_1.3.27/ # ./configure # cd ../php-4.3.0/ # ./configure --with-pgsql=/usr/local/psql/ --without-mysql --with-apache=../apache_1.3.27/ --enable-mbstring --enable-mbstr-enc-trans --enable-mbregex # make make install # cd ../apache_1.3.27/ # SSL_BASE=../openssl-0.9.7 ./configure --with-pgsql=/usr/local/pgsql/ --without-mysql --prefix=/www --activate-module=src/modules/php4/libphp4.a --enable=module=ssl # make # make install I add the following line to httpd.conf and start apache: AddType application/x-httpd-php .php But when I try and load a .php page I get a Save File dialog ... What step did I miss or where did I do something wrong? Thanks! Jc -- PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php
[PHP] PHP Installation problem - httpd.conf issue?
Hi there, I recently upgraded from PHP version 4.0-ish to 4.2.3 on my Linux/Apache machine. AFAIK, Apache is setup correctly (it serves HTML) and PHP works, but only from the command line. If I type php -q php.php test.html the output of phpinfo() is stored in test.html. When I try and look at test.html running on localhost it display sfine, but when I try and view php.php, as save as window pops up. I am not too familar with Linux. If it was a Windows installation then I would make sure the Action application (path to php.exe) line was correct, but I can't find this in the Linux httpd.conf. Does this issue sound familar to anyone. Could anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks very much. - Best regards, Lee Reilly -- PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php
[PHP] PHP Installation Problem
Thanks all. I have now resolved. For future reference, the problem was as you said, I didn't have php configured for mysql support. I traced this back to the installation of the operating system, Red Hat 7.2. Through the graphical installation, all php modules apart from mysql support and odbc support are installed by default. These two have to be specifically chosen, which I didn't do. Anyway problem now resolved This e-mail is intended for the recipient only and may contain confidential information. [PHP] PHP Installation Problem
I have a development web server php 4.0.6 apache and mysql and everything works OK. I installed the same software onto a new server that will be the production server but I hit problems when my scripts try and hit the db on the new server. Comparing the phpinfo details for both, the new server does not have a mysql section it. I copied the original php.ini onto the new server and restarted apache after the installation. Where have I missed this in the installation process and how should I resolve it? As an aside question, is there any glaring issues I may encounter if I upgrade php to 4.2.2 from 4.0.6? Re: [PHP] PHP Installation Problem
Well, how did you do the install? You really need to provide more details. Heck, any details. You don't mention your OS, whether you compiled from source, if so which configure flags, from packages, which packages, etc.. We are not mind readers. -Rasmus On Tue, 30 Jul 2002, Mark Colvin wrote: I have a development web server php 4.0.6 apache and mysql and everything works OK. Re: [PHP] PHP Installation Problem
I'm not sure exactly what you're saying, but it sounds to me like you didn't configure --with-mysql for the new server. You MUST do that. ./configure --with-apxs=/blah/blah --with-mysql If you don't have --with-mysql compiled into the php binary, mysql functions won't work. Re: [PHP] installation problem
Because PHP needs to be able to find both the lib and the header files. Since the header files are nowhere to be found under /usr/lib, that isn't going to work. --with-gd=/usr is what you want here. -Rasmus On Sat, 24 Mar 2001, Paulo Vincius Vitto Ruthes wrote: can somebody explain me WHY I can't make my PHP compile with GD? Locate the RPMs on your CD or load it from a RPM repository. www.rpmfind.com seems to be down. You are missing some of the files you need to compile - you may need to seek assistance from someone familiar with Mandrake to determine how to add the necessary stuff. I can tell you how with slackware If you want control everything yourself install Debian. At the LinuxDays last year in Stuttgart we have installed Mandrake.
