I am using XBMC for some years mainly to watch movies. Now I switched
the skin back to MQ5 and during music playback lyrics is enabled... I
don't think that XBMC or the add-on creator is using a played service.

I installed this foobar plugin, and it started chuntering through my
library, although not so good on compilation albums, but better than
nothing. I was concerned that I could not find the tags in my tag
editor - after a bit of investigation I discovered that Synced Lyrics
typically use a LYRICS

When I ran the foobar app it did imbed lyrics in the flac file but in a

May have found the problem. I had Synched Lyric Tag and Unsynched lyric
tag both filled in with LYRICS. When I removed lyrics from Synched it
seems to be working.
Maybe this will help someone else.

FYI...iPeng used to be $10, it has been $5 for a while. Depending how
old the iPod Touch is, it may not support the latest version of iPeng,
which has a main page that displays lyrics. In my opinion, it's one of
my favorite features of iPeng in the last few months.
iPeng is $6 (iPhone/iTouch) and $10 (iPad) and it currently runs on
anything except for first generation iOS devices (original iPhone and
iTouch). But I would not recommend it on 2nd generation devices either
except as a standalone player (that doesn't require strict syncing). I
