Think you might be dissapointed
1) All Rasbian OS are back compatible with previous Hardware ( I have
tried running LMS and Squeezelite on Stretch on a rpi1B with cirruslogic
dac. It did work but was painfully slow. piCorePlayer is much better in
this instance imho.

When you have it working as you want, remember to use the SD Card Copier
function to make a clone of the install.
It will reduce the size of the image down to the size of the card you
clone to, say from 16gb down on to a 8gb card.

No benefit for LMS users per say, but it is a "standard" url which can
be entered into any player in a similar way to the AAC or mp3 streams
URLs.
It's still beta but works in foobar and other players (when it's
there:rolleyes:, it has teething problems at the mo:().

When I had this problem I found that I was making an error on copying
the Key.
I had it saved in another document.
I went to the Google Cloud Platform, Credentials page and just clicked
on the "Copy API key" at the end of the key.

Yep,
reverted to the original file and rebooted.
Tried radio 6 and it seemed to take a long time

No difference, I used three separate stations into a Squeezebox radio.
First I had to enable "Show hidden files and folders" under File
Explorer Options (Appearance and Personalisation) in Control Panel.

I did, earlier today try 4 mins and that still took 15 secs or so to
start playing but it was 3 mins behind the live broadcast.

OK Nick, this afternoon I download the old Jessie from max2play and
installed it on a rpi2B.
I had to update the package and then had a problem with it downloading
LMS, but eventually got the latest .deb package and installed it
manually.
