Probably this is an upstream issue but the font config settings (oops_font, cmd_font, statusbar_font, and tabbar_font) no longer function, and the tabs have doubled in size, taking up lots of screen real estate. Apart from these purely cosmetic things it works for me. Brett

Based on what worked for Ryan, I tried with -m 512 instead of -m 1300. Now I can install and run OpenBSD 5.0 i386 (release). Qemu used to be able to run on my computer with -m 1300, but apparently not anymore. 512M is enough, anyway. you may be neglecting to set your ulimit

Yeah, it's their problem. But gv has gotten so bad at dealing with PDFs for me that I've just about stopped using it entirely. In ports is xpdf and zathura, and epdfview... --STeve Andre' MuPDF in ports is also good, minimal and snappy.

works with: $ qemu -m 1300 -no-acpi -no-fd-bootchk -hda virtual.img then selecting failsafe mode to boot into a console (no x11) desktop. If you want a graphical desktop environment, choose failsafe mode and then delete nomodeset x11 failsafe from the boot arguments. Cheers, Brett.
