If that works out well I already have a separate HDD on the same PC with
Ubuntu and VMware for Linux installed on it with several Win 2k Pro SP4
Virtual machines set up. If that also works out my next step is to set up
my VFP apps to

Hi TC Wong:
Stay with it, VFP has been good to me.
I am 70 and still working with VFP 5.0
I use FPD2.0 because I have the LCK (Library Construction Kit with the
Watcom C compiler). It's wonderful to be able to mix assembler (.asm
hope you understand) with Fox : all Fox variables can be used in the
assembly code and Fox can drive .asm routines very easily. Using
assembler allows me
Still using Foxpro DOS (FP2.0 !) for about 40% of my time, I do think
VFP9 is the top of the top of what we can do in developing language !!
IMHO, there are a lot to do with VFP in 'standard applications' for
standard industries or standard countries. I do a lot of work in the
industrial world

Hey - I feel your pain!
I too am still doing work in FoxPro for DOS - although I put that in
quotes since the work is actually done in VFP - even though almost all

Still doing FPD?
There are tons of systems still running using FPD. I know several companies
with revenues in the
hundreds of millions that base their core operations on FPD. I know one that
has revenues in the
billion range that was using FPW up until a year ago. Just because it is old

Hi Jean,
Over the past year we've started porting all my firm's batch data
processing (non-GUI) applications from VFP, C/C++, AWK/SED, Informatica,
T-SQL, and PL/SQL to Python. Most of these applications are more text
processing (ETL) than database related with the flat file outputs

Hi Jean
I have one customer still using a FPD 2.6 application. I pitched them
the idea of a web-based rewrite, and though very impressed, they
decided it would be far cheaper to maintain the existing app. I'm only
43 so they can get several years of support from me, if you old timers
