I recently installed the trial version of DXP with SP2. I have not been
touching Protel for a couple years, but FWIW, I do not remember having this
problem in Protel 99 - it just worked, so I cannot recall details.
I have an analog board with a few op amps that come in four packs :)
I want to

Hi,
I'd like to use a large, unmasked, plated, copper pour, on a single layer, to

I need to quantify the thermal resistance of the copper pour to ambient. I

Hello Kirill,
I think you may find the default setting in
Toolbar.../Tools/Preferences/Schematic-- 'Multi-part Suffix' is set to
'Numeric' when you need 'Alpha'. I have no experience with XP version
myself but it is probably something simple like this.

Another possibility is that you have not fully defined the quad op-amp you
are using in the library. For annotation to work as you expect, you need to
declare all four amps with their unique pin numbers as part/s 1,2,3,4.
Power pins may be declared as separate part (5) with graphics if desired
Ian,
I think I understand it now.
Thanks.

Hello All,
I was contemplating what my next move with Protel will be and came up with
an idea of creating an open sourced SP7 software for 99SE. Before I put my
foot in my mouth, is there a future for open sourced Service Packs?
is it legal?

I don't know how you can do
Hi,
I've been a lurker for many years. My needs have been modest. However, I'm
starting to do high speed and RF boards. I noticed that there are signal
integrity DRC's. The first one I'm interested in is the characteristic
impedance. I do not understand how Protel 99SE calculates impedance.

I have been given the task to add assembly drawings to a design that another
engineer is working on using protel 99SE. I would like to go into the
library that he is currently using and just add a mechanical layer 1 to each
part with a .comment string, and update the PCB from the library. There

How would you do this? Unless you have the source code for 99SE and
Altium's blessing to make it open source, I don't see how you could make
99SE open source for a SP7. I assume you mean you would write add-on
utilities for 99SE, and your add-ons would be open source? I'm not sure
that
Hi Ted
You could try selecting all the components on the bottom layer, unlock
their primitives, then change the tracks/attributes on mechanical layer
1 to mechanical layer 2 - that applies to the bottom assembly drawing.
Make sure when you do the global change that you match by selection and

I thinks Jon is right we need the source code to start

We are considering using sierra proto express for some 1 day turn 6 layer

Has anyone on the list used them, and to what success? Is their qualty
acceptable?

I used to use them, never had a problem. But they were not the least
expensive alternative for fast delivery of prototypes, though it is
possible that's changed (haven't bought any protos for a year or more, and
it's been quite a few years since I bought anything from Sierra Proto Express).

they give good ads ! :)
i think they are ok, maybe pricey
but for one day and the high tech bd you describe you really need to pay
a lot for quality
there is so much more to lose at the next step
i can strongly recomend vector fabrication, they maybe could do one day
but they might need 2-3 days
