Hi John,

I'll second Tom's favorable opinion of 99SE, and add my own comments.
I don't find the 99SE database annoying, my main concern with it is I wonder
if the DDB files will be readable in the future by any non-Microsoft
database tool. That could be a problem, if DDB files are never documented

I wasn't going to stick my neck out but...What works for us is to have a
common PCB footprint (We use the same as Mira and others) and then we create
a unique schematic part for each part# we use. The pins of the schematic
part are mapped to the generic pad numbering in the layout footprint. While

I do thing Altium/Protel are loosing their way. FPGA's are nice, but in the
end they are just a component used in some of the designs I do.
I see FPGA's in almost every design I see. I also see diff paired routing
in almost pcb design. I don't see how 3rd party software for FPGA's can

BTW remember the To92's that were ECB ? (or was it BCE ?)

We need to gather a bunch of programmers and designers together and beat
this one out... after a few brews and a couple of black eyes, we might
actually be able to get what the industry really needs.

I'm cross-posting this because I'm not getting any emails from DXP, and I
know many are subscribed to both lists. I sent an email a few minutes ago
regarding an email that purported to come from the DXP list, saying that my email
server (AOL) was bouncing emails and they were putting a hold on

I've got a project coming up which I'd like to run through DXP as a

Rene- I wish I could enjoy using DXP as much as I've enjoyed 99se. Maybe
you could elaborate about the features you wouldn't want to miss, because
I haven't found them yet.
