[qmailtoaster] mailing lists

2015-02-18 Thread SYS

Hi Guys,

been getting more and more junk mail with Russian looking content,
When checking the headers it always originate from a different IP
address, then I diligently add to my firewall.

However I am noticing a trend,
in the headers, I also notice the the sender email address, is one of my
 mailing lists

eg :  a...@mydomain.com

Any clue as how to stop this.

Thanks

these, but keep REQUIRE_AUTH=0. Your tcp.submission file should be:

127.:allow,RELAYCLIENT=,DKSIGN=/var/qmail/control/domainkeys/%/private,NOP0FCHECK=1

1.2.3.4:allow,BADMIMETYPE=,BADLOADERTYPE=M,CHKUSER_RCPTLIMIT=50,CHKUSER_WRONGRCPTLIMIT=10,QMAILQUEUE=/var/qmail/bin/qmail-queue,NOP0FCHECK=1,REQUIRE_AUTH=0

(be careful of line wrap - there are 3 lines here)

The 127.: line is for squirrelmail. As long as it's using port 25, you
don't need it here. You might want to change your SM config to
authenticate though (see wiki), in which case you don't need the 127.:
line in either tcp.* file.

Do *not* use the relayclient parameter, as that would allow someone to
use your barracuda as a relay (open relay), unless barracuda is
checking for local domains somehow and rejecting non-local email
(which I doubt).

For the qmailctl script, after )cdb you should have:
  cdb)
tcprules /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp.cdb /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp.tmp
 /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp

chmod 644 /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp*
echo Reloaded /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp
#   build cdb for submission
tcprules /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.submission.cdb
/etc/tcprules.d/tcp.submission.tmp  /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.submission

chmod 644 /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.submission*
echo Reloaded /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.submission

Don't forget to change the submission/run file by removing the
REQUIRE_AUTH=1 parameter, and change the tcp.X.cdb file name.

That should do it! (I think)

[qmailtoaster] BASH

2014-09-25 Thread SYS

Important.
Possibly on all Unix, Linux and OSX platforms

Bash vulnerability: As seen on TV CNN etc

   Diagnostic Steps

To test if your version of Bash is vulnerable to this issue, run the
following command:

$ env x='() { :;}; echo vulnerable'  bash -c echo this is a test

If the output of the above command looks as follows:

vulnerable
this is a test

you are using a vulnerable version of Bash. The patch used to fix this
issue ensures that no code is allowed after the end of a Bash function.
Thus, if you run the above example with the patched version of Bash, you
should get an output similar to:

$ env x='() { :;}; echo vulnerable'  bash -c echo this is a test
bash: warning: x: ignoring function definition attempt
bash: error importing function definition for `x'
this is a test

Possibly can stop using a firewall rule:

iptables -A INPUT -m string --algo bm --hex-string '|28 29 20 7B|' -j DROP

*then save iptables etc.*

I ran the first part on my qmail-toaster servers, and was at risk.

Re: [qmailtoaster] attachments

2012-03-06 Thread Sys

Hi all,

I can confirm the problem only happens in Squirrel mail.

I set up 2 different clients, One Outloo, other MAC mail,
both get and open any attachments.
But as I say, logged in to webmail ( squirrelmail ) on qmailtoaster server,
files wont open or download.

Please advise

Hi all,

users are calling saying any attachments, when using Squirrelmail, are
being corrupt.

I have 2 qmail toaster servers running , sent an email to an account on
both servers with the same attachment.

Logged in to each webmail both servers show the email has attachments,
but only one gives the un-corrupted file.
The Bad server says cannot open attachment.

ran qtp-menu
updated,
still same issue

is there a fix for this ( possibly squirrelmail ? )

Thanks

Do you perhaps on the server producing corrupted messages have
register_globals turned on ? I found this by googling:

http://squirrelmail.org/wiki/KnownBugs

PHP 4.4.0 or later + register_globals=on + SquirrelMail 1.4.5 or older
Variable corruption in messages with attachments.

  I use RoundCube and it works pretty well. It's not feature rich and has some
cumbersome behaviors, but is easy to setup and use. You have to make sure
subscriptions are checked if you're using IMAP.. Horde is a very nice piece,
but getting it setup is a PITA. I had it setup, it broke after a few hours of
testing and I couldn't get it to work again and the mailing-list needs to take
some lessons from this list or the webmin one on courtesy and response.

Log in to squirrel mail,
Open email with attachments , in this case a jpg, or csv, or doc
Save jpg to any folder, try to open jpg, in Broswer it shows blank page.
In mspaint it says cant open file, unknow format.

Same with a doc, or xls file etc

I now have installed horde, logged in, same email same file, it shows up no
problem

So whoever wrote the wiki, thanks it worked like a charm

Log in to squirrel mail,
Open email with attachments , in this case a jpg, or csv, or doc
Save jpg to any folder, try to open jpg, in Broswer it shows blank page.
In mspaint it says cant open file, unknow format.

Same with a doc, or xls file etc

I now have installed horde, logged in, same email same file, it shows up
no problem

So whoever wrote the wiki, thanks it worked like a charm

[qmailtoaster] VM OVF

2012-01-18 Thread Sys
Could some one add this to the wiki please , or instruct me howto:
Thanks

Using an OFV format Virtual Machine:

Download the VM http://techyguru.com (maintanied by MadMac)

1. You need a computer runing something like ESXi ( free ) or Virtual Box (free
)

2. In ESXi, File, Delpoy OVF Template.

3. Select the OFV file you are using., select next many times.

4. Name your VM, eg: Qmail

5. Select destination drive.

6. Select thin, ( you may not have this setting )

7. Leave VM Network as default

8 . Finish delpyment of OVF

When deployed.

Select your New VM in the ESXi menu, edit any setting to suite,( RAM CPU etc)

Power on VM, Select console, login use the qmail server.

Or login to : http://youripaddress/qcontrol

If you grabbed the VM from my site http://techyguru.com

You should also grab the PDF, it has all the passwords etc

If users still need the vmdk format( Vmworkstation player ), I can make it
avaliable also

Thanks

You shouldn't need to rebuild the packages.

Just reinstall the binaries, if that's what you want. They should all be
in the /usr/src/qtp-upgrade/old-rpms/ provided you've updated at least
once (not a fresh install using other install scripts).

Re: [qmailtoaster] mass email

2011-12-02 Thread Sys
As eric mentioned earlier, it must have been in the message formatting error,

I googled the planet, found the answer in an obscure licatio:

So here is a format that worked: create new message file
vi message.txt

In there:

First line of file: From: your email
Second line of file: Subject: The Subject of Your Email Message
Third line of file: empty line
Fourth line of file: empty line
Fifth line of file: Dear Email Hosting Clients,
Sixth line of file: empty line
Seventh line of file: Begin actual message

then I ran
/home/vpopmail/bin/vpopbull -f message.txt mydomain.com -V

-f {filename}
-V, is verbose, it lists all email addresses in domain, getting the email

Hope someone else can use this, or Pak Ogah`s method

Thanks all

Hi Mike,
for a long time I had problems sending on port 25, authentication errors etc

So for the hell of it , I called my service providers (in Canada)
The two largest service providers , always block port 25, regardless, unless
you are a business and have a static IP address.

So I had to either fork out more cash or change to port 587.
No brainer.

That may also be your issue. Just a thought.

 Port 25 does not require authentication, provided the email is going to a
 domain for which QMT is set up to receive email (domains listed in rcpthosts

 open relay, which is a very bad thing.

  check the user's .qmail file and make sure there's not a duplicate entry in
there.

[qmailtoaster] Users Mailbox

2011-07-13 Thread sys
Hi list:

Is there an easy way to see what the size is of all user mailboxes.

Reanon for the questions is, our daily back jumped up from 6Gb to 26 Gb in just
2 Days.

I have temperarilly disabled backup for now, as I also run Jakes server
cloning ( Unison ) as a main failover.

Thanks guys

  I wrote my own script:

  #!/bin/bash
  #
  # Domain disk use -- Written by Eric C. Broch
  #
  domain=mydomain.com
  directory=/home/vpopmail/domains/$domain
  directories=/home/vpopmail/domains/$domain/*
  if [ $1 !=  ]
  then
 if [ -d $directory/$1 ]
 then
du -sh $directory/$1
 else
echo No such user: $1
 fi
 exit 0
  fi
  for file in $directories
  do
 if [ -d $file ]
 then
echo
du -sh  $file

  done
  du -sh $directory
  exit 0

It works, so I piped the scrip to output to a txt file for reading off the
server.

Just curious if it can give reults on all hosted domains on the same server.

Great , thanks again eric.

Answerd my own question:
Eric , I modified your scrip, to give the domain total size, Then I can use
your original script on an individual domain, to find the culprit with the huge
mail box:

Modified script:
#!/bin/bash

#

# Domain disk use -- Written by Eric C. Broch

#

#domain=yourdomain.com

directory=/home/vpopmail/domains/

directories=/home/vpopmail/domains/*

if [ $1 !=  ]

then

if [ -d $directory/$1 ]

then

du -sh $directory/$1

else

echo No such user: $1

fi

exit 0

fi

for file in $directories

do

if [ -d $file ]

then

echo

du -sh $file

fi

done

du -sh $directory

exit 0

Thanks again

Thanks Jake,
would you have a timeline for the patch?
As you can guess, having more Blackberry problems, even though I have their IP

I can list that here if required.

 I'm working on patching chkuser 2.0.9 into the 2.x build and the current

 /* #define CHKUSER_ALLOW_RCPT_CHAR_9 '#' */ /* available for other

 /* #define CHKUSER_ALLOW_RCPT_CHAR_10 '=' */ /* available for other
 characters */

 So opening 1, 2, 4, and 5 seems like it would be sufficient, along with
 the / character. Does anyone know of any other characters that would be
 required or wish to investigate this? From the messages on the mailing
 list it seems that Blackberry accounts are the ones that keep hitting this
 issue, so hoping that someone has done some research on this already and
 can let me know what other characters would be required to be allowed in
 the code.
 Thanks.
