I got you JK but I hope you try one anyways it can't hurt testing it out.
I actually was going to purchase the Extreme 4x4 but they brought out both chairs for me to test drive and making sharp turns in your house is impossible in the 4x4 because it drives like a car, it doesn't move unless you're in a fwrd or bkwrd motion so you can't just turn left or right you must be moving first.
That's the only reason I didn't go with it but I'd still like to have one to play in.

I can't help bragging about this chair because it opened up a lot more territory to explore.
I get off the main road as often as possible which is daily.

I'm not talking about tipping the wheelchair over or anything like that. I'm talking about havingexcess movement that you would have to compensate with your arms while driving with electronic hand controls. The less movement you have with the wheelchair the easier it is to drive.

Right now I have an Invacare Torque, we will drive chair with 2" suspension travel. My chair is locked in place with an EZ Lock that is located between the back tires and my frontend is locked into place with an anti-tipdeviceto prevent me from doing wheelies when I accelerate. If I lived somewhere where it was flat and I did not have to go up-and-down hills daily, I could probably get by without having the anti-tip device.

I pullback on the control to accelerate, which pushes you back into your chair and when I push the control forward I slow down, which makes you lean forward. If I accelerate too hard my rearsuspension on my chair will start to squish and when that happens I have to compensate that extra movement with my arms so I do notpull thethrottle wide-open. When I'm stopping, my front suspension will not squish because I'm locked into the anti-tip device but I have to compensate for my upper body moving forward and the slop in the seat. Going up or down the hills multiplies the movements by at least a factor of two because of gravity. I also have my chest strap on nice and tight.

With the extra rocking motion of a mid-wheel drive chair it would be extremely hard for me to drive up and down hills. The wheelchair company that I'm going through asked me if I wanted to trythe Frontier, like you have, but since I have already tried a mid-wheel drive chair I declined but maybe I will have them get it for me to try anyways.

I want a wheelchair that will let me do more "off roading" to open up my life more but if I am unable to drive safely that type of wheelchair will do me no good. Having a good stable, solid secure and safe driving platform is my No. 1 priority.

When I was still walking I helped a quadriplegic man, who ended up being my
neighbors cousin, off the street in a snowstorm. I ended up calling 911
because he was pretty much frozen and drunk. He was on his way to the
liquor store for some more antifreeze. He ended up spending a few days in

I don't want a mid wheel drive wheelchair because it's too unstable when I
drive. With the Omega Track you can get different types of tires, air
suspension, which makes it almost like riding in a Cadillacand of course
all the other gizmos we need. The Omega Track weighs 140 pounds more than
my Invacare Torque and it is also a little longer, which makes it a little
cumbersome inside but the stability of the Omega Track is unbelievable compared
to my and the other wheelchairs I have tried so far.

Pride Mobility chairs were never design to test the terrain, just safe
transportation
on hard surfaces. Kinda like a limo, being taken off-road.
When you chose your Pride chair, has you planned on taking it off-road and
getting it
all muddy'd? LOL, people who evaluate others for wheelchairs, can't imagine
anyone who is a quad testing the limits of an electric wheelchair, off
road.
What are your options now. Can you afford the more expensive Omega Track

The Frontier has great stability because it's on 6 wheels all the timeandit has regular suspension as in shocks plus thebig knobby tires only use 6-8 lbs pressure that absorbs lots of shock.
I was amazed driving over thresholds and rocks and barely a bumb at all.
You ever hit a rock going full speed?
My other chair would've practically threw me out, now I hardly even dodge them.

The Extreme 4x4 is 4 wheel drive and I don't know how you more stable than it.

Anyways you can always test drive one.
I didn't think I'd like the mid wheel drive until I tested it and I'll never go back to rear or front, I can get in and out of a lot more places now that I wouldn't have even considered before.

I'm lost on tipping forward or backwards, I've never had that problem.
I mean you have 2 wheels in front of the mid wheel and 2 wheels behind you that are in constant contact of the ground so how would you tip.
Have you looked at the Frontier?
You'd have to hit a wall to tip forward and tipping backwards impossible.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I try very hard to accelerate
gently. I have an Invacare and I feel like I'm doing a wheelie if I take off
with any force. Scares the bejeebers out of me. I also try hard not to stop
on a hill (uphill). I always roll back a bit and then surge forward. The
chair will inevitably tilt backward.

My getting stuck while alone experience was in Detroit in the winter going to class at night. The snow goofed me up just across from the Hotel where I lived. A little 5 foot gal came by and got me back across the street and up the driveway. I learned early that discretion is the better part of valor. Before I bought my van I put about 20 miles/day on my chair and drove it
regardless of weather. One morning I drove to swim practice about 8
hours away, coached on the outdoor deck for about 2 hours and drove back
home. The rain never stopped!

I go all over my subdivision almost daily and probably put 3-4 miles on my chair and last week I went to the golf course with my son and a friend and they played 9 holes on a huge golf course, it was awesome and they of course kept the grass in top condition, I had a blast and hope to go again before it gets too cold.

How far do you guys dare to drive your chairs away from your houses?
When I moved, I really wanted to move to a place by a big park with trails, etc. My sister had lived in a planned community that had trails throughout the neighborhood that connected parks, etc. That was my big must have. But the house I found did not have that, but was to good a deal to pass up. One house had everything I wanted, right next to this huge park that went forever, but the house was too small. But now the city is building this trail that goes for like 15-20 miles, it is a jogging trail / equestrian trail (half paved half compact clay. Anyway, it looks like it will be about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile from me. Once I get a cell phone I can use and my new chair back from the shop, I might try going to it alone. I rarely go anywhere by myself. Partly nowhere to go, partly afraid what if my chair died. I go up to the new park down the street, but it's just a big open park with a paved walkway to the kids play area. I often take my niece there. I attached 2 pics of me with the following email but don't think the quad list loop liked it so here's the email alone.

Hi Greg,

I live in a huge "area" consistingmostly of residentialhomes. Neighborhood after neighborhood and most have "many" cul-de-sacs or small streets that branch off a bit bigger street and have only 5-12 homes on the lil street.

ANYWAY ... in my own lil subdivision I can cruise around for a long time. Traffic is very low but I pass many walkers, joggers, bikers on my trips so if I needed something I know someone will come along soon. PLUS ... EVERYONE says hiya. Unlike the northeast.

But the best part of my area in north Tucson is that sidewalks are everywhere (but I stay on the street as the ka-thuds hurt my back) AND, along the busier streets ... there are fullypaved side paths for bikers. Signs even point out 'biker rout.' But it's for walkers, joggers, etc too. So no matter where I am in an 8 mile by 8 mile radius (AT LEAST) I always have somewhere to wheel to with my doggie.

IF I got stranded (w/c battery low, etc)... my husband has a good idea where to find me. So I go quite far. I hope when we move that we find such a walker's paradise. Also ... within my neighborhood but .7 miles away (20 minute w/c cruise whith stops on the way) is a cute park to go to. Pic attached.

SOME quads are fearful to go hardly anywhere alone. And enough could go wrong for me but hubby knows where I am and I enjoy Tucson's awesome weather and sky-views.

Here's ONE house of hundreds of thousands http://www.tucsonproperties.net/homes/2527399%20103%20E%20Atelier%20Way%20Oro%20Valley%20Arizona%2085755.htm --- I stay on the street while doggie walks on the sided curb. There are nice smooth BIG curbcuts at every corner.

Unsure why the mountains look so washed out in the one pic ... maybe a hazy day.

  Hello Greg,
I lease a farm about a mile and a half from my
house, im down there several times a week. Somtimes twice a day,
ofcourse ivegot my cell phone and my faithfull dog Lu-Lu. She
won't leave my side for nothing and if another dog gets to close look
out. The worst part is the dam traffic they fly off this mountain, I
drive my chair on the paved curb, ive seen cars pass on it before. Ive
called the state troopers but hell you mite as well called the dog
warden. I really take to many chances, but hell ive got to live.
If something happens im doing what I won't to do, life is a chance.

That'll be neat to have a jogging trail near the home. My advise for you would be, check out if there is any soft sand on or nearby these trails. This becomes my main problem when getting to my hunting blind. (Another story)

Anyway, I too have traveled the streets around my way for as far as 5-6 miles round trip. At the time, I never had a fear the chair would breakdown while on my little ventures. Unfortunately, for me, the wires to my one motor started shorten out at home while in the winter time last year. I guess I was lucky too.
Anyhow, now I tend to stay in a 4 mile radius of my house when I do go out, but also letting someone know where I'm heading. Just in case.
Keep in mind...new batteries tend to give an average of 20 miles of battery life to a charge. Not sure I trust 20 miles, but that is what most are spected out to be.

Good luck,
