2021-05-16 Thread Nigel Plant
If you visit the OMEX site, you can download the mapping software for OMEX
500 and I believe the manual. However to set up correctly you are best to
get it on a rolling road. If you call omex they are also very helpful and
will point you in the right direction. Also call Rob Hancock at Qusntum
Sports Cars and he may be able to put you in touch with Mark Burley, who is
very knowledgeable and has a rolling road.

Re: [Quantum Owners] 2L Zetec Blacktop Pistons

2021-03-26 Thread Nigel Plant
To answer some of the questions, think mainly Jim's:

There is a lot of history to my turbo zetec. Too much for here, however
will try to pick out relevant points.

My original aim for the turbo was significant performance increase at a
decent price and push the boundaries a little. The engine originally cost
£150 with 30k miles and had done about another 30 in standard form. I
wasn't worried about the engine at that price and general consensus was
that at LP the zetec would be OK with 8psi boost. I designed and made my
own manifold and modified an intercooler etc. I decided on using a Chinese
Garrett copy turbo. Why? Because when I investigated, noone could tell me
how good they were, based on data and evidence. Everything was heresay. I
wanted to know so I used one and at £150 was essentially disposable. Anyway
the turbo worked fine no lag and great performance. On the RR it pulled
about 240bhp and 240 ft lb torque.
It did a number of track days, but finally cried enough at Snetterton, when
a chufgjng noise and heavy crankcase pressure indicated a compression issue.
At the time I bought a second engine from a breakers, stripped and rebuilt,
with a spreader plate to reduce compression to 9:1. This was intended as a
temporary configuration to drop the compression to a safe level, with no
real loss of non turbo torque or turbo lag. This configuration was
successful, but the engine was tired and obviously had done a lot more
mileage than the claimed 80k.
So recently I set about rebuilding the original with the intent of finding
the problem and rebuilding to a good and reliable standard.
The current issue is:
Engine 1: scored bore and one broken piston.
Engine 2: worn and oval bores, good pistons.

My first choice is to get the custom forged pistons made through Cambridge
motorsport that use the standard rods, with a plan B of forged pistons and
rods with silvertop con rod lengths and compression height. .
Sorry for the long post and trust me this is very much abbreviated.

Nigel

Silvertop oversize pistons are readily available.
I think mine failed due to about 20 track days approx 10 with turbo and too
much fuel at start up. I also ran with standard compression and there was
significant evidence of pre detonation particularly on the #3 piston which
failed. However I dont think it was significant enough to be the cause. I
dont yet have the piston, so haven't inspected it in detail.
I do have a second engine but that has worn bores. One option is to use
that but with the block sleeved so I can reuse those pistons. Does anyone
have experience of sleeving, I dont, so am hesitant to go that route.

[Quantum Owners] 2L Zetec Blacktop Pistons

2021-03-25 Thread Nigel Plant
Probably one that's right up Jim's street. Does anyone have the Ford
specification for 2L Zetec blacktop pistons. Need gudgeon pin diameter,
compression height essentially all the key dimensions. I have broken a
piston on my Xtreme turbo such that it needs reboring and cannot get any
standard but oversize pistons. Am also told that Nural and Mahle have no
production plans to manufacture any. I can get forged pistons and rods,
which would be better performance wise but didn't want to drop compression
to 8:1 or fork out £1200. 9:1 is my ideal for the power I want. I have
found a custom piston manufacture for forged pistons alone, but they
require a piston (no problem) and the key specs.

For information, I have learnt one interesting point that people may find
useful. Although the silvertop and black top have different length conrods
(ctr to ctr) and different compression heights. The combined total of
conrod length and compression height for the silvertop and blacktop are the
same, meaning a set of silvertop conrods and pistons can be used to replace
the blacktop ones.

Thanks for any help on the specs.

Hi Karl
As a new Quantum Owner, have you thought about joining the Owners Club? We
have approximately 160 members and provide a number of events throughout
the year, ranging from days out to a 'track day' at Curborough Sprint
course, which is always great fun. Our highlight of the year is the
national kit car show at Stoneleigh, where we provide barbecue and large
marquee where members gather. Full information is on our web site
www.quantumowners.co.uk. If you contact Jan Haines at
members...@quantumowners.co.uk she will let you have all the relevant
information.

Re: [Quantum Owners] Extreme Master Cylinder

2020-07-30 Thread Nigel Plant
Hi Karl
A photo of your pedal box with master cylinder attached would be useful. This
is to make sure you have the zetec version with master cylinder offset more to
the offside. I am also pretty sure my master cylinder is a different pipe
arrangement to yours
I will post a photo tomorrow, but note the car has ne engine in currently!!!
As Steve rightly mentions there ate a few Sierra variants and it seems pot luck
which you have, again I believe they are all interchangeable. I also know mine
is a rare breed!!!

[Quantum Owners] Re: Zetec Blacktop into Saloon -anyone got info/advice?

2020-05-09 Thread Nigel Plant
If it's of any use, I had a lot of movement in my engine mounts on the black
top zetec turbo on my xtreme. I had up to 20mm movement on the track.
Eventually I bit the bullet and bought the vibra technical mounts. Cannot speak
highly enough of them. Virtually no movement and great damping. However less
than 1mm movement, sounds too big an ask for any mounts. Also note this is a
longitudinal installation on the xtreme.

[Quantum Owners] Gel coat colour code (red saloon)

2019-10-09 Thread Nigel Plant
I have a very good car paint and body store nearby. They can scan your
existing colour and if you have a panel you can leave with them they will then
refine the scan by using spray samples to match.
I have used this a couple of times and even with just the scan got perfect
results. They even did this just got s single mixed aerosol.

Am sure you must have s similar store in the area.

Thanks Dave.
This helps. I hadn't spotted this in Haynes. I was getting confused
between air and fuel jet sizes. I combined all sources of info and
concluded mine are correct. All problems now solved.
Have live to choke, reset it and it now works fine.
Was not getting full throttle, adjuster screw/ clip where cable outer
attached to carb was crackered. Temporarily fixed with novel use of cable
tie.
Thanks all for

[Quantum Owners] 2+2 Carburettor

2019-07-09 Thread Nigel Plant
Hi folks
Two questions, weber 32 dft 1985 XR2 CVH 1.6:
1) I am suspicious that the main jets have at some point been confused. The
primary is 160 and secondary 150, going by numbers stamped on top. My
understanding is that primary should be the smaller one. Can anyone pse confirm.
2) What is the live source for the wire going onto the choke please. Having a
few choke woes.

Regards
Nigel

Re: [Quantum Owners] 2+2 Lights

2019-06-14 Thread Nigel Plant
Thanks for the inputs. Jim's explanation was a big help. No headlight relays!!
Rechecked switches and am pretty sure the wiper/ headlight switch is faulty as
there is no power on the black white wire between this and the indicator stalk
switch. I assume this wire is the headlight on wire that the indicator stalk
then uses to select main or dipped. Would appreciate someone's confirmation.
So presumably the headlight flasher gets its power from the same live as the
indicators.
So next question is does anyone have a spare switch they wish to sell?
Thanks
Nigel

May be a daft question, but where are the headlight relays. According to Haynes
they are not behind fuse box.

Andy, to save me searching as I'm short on time and daughter using car at the
moment, where is the column earth?

Also looks like the hazard problem is a separate issue. If I play with the
switch they work. May be catching the shroud.

[Quantum Owners] 2+2 Lights

2019-06-14 Thread Nigel Plant
Hi Guys
Have just foind a problem with headlights not working. So am hoping for a quick
few pointers before I get onto the detail of wiring diagrams etc.

Here are the symptoms:
Dipped and main beam headlights do not work.
Sidelights work and the flaps do open.
Headlights will flash normally using indicator stalk.
In checking all systems found that hazards don't work and when hazards switched
on indicators don't work, realise that may be logical.

All fuses checked and ok.

Without consulting wiring diagrams etc I would assume either the headlights are
not receiving power from an ignition live (but this would mean hazards are a
separate issue) or an earth problem. The latter being a guess as may be linked
to all the bad weather we've been having.

I've initially discounted a relay as couldn't see how this could explain dip
and mains not working.

I can go through trouble shooting routines, but the reason for the early post
is son gets married on Saturday and is using the car, so am short on time and
looking for a quick steer. My starting point will be earth near battery and
headlight switch.

Thanks
Nigel

Re: [Quantum Owners] Xtreme Hub again

2019-06-05 Thread Nigel Plant
Take a look when you strip it. If the outer land has high points or is too
wide the cones sit further apart. Torquing the nuts squeezes the bearing
races which bear on the cones, so if the cones are too far apart, the
bearings tighten. The shims space the bearings further apart. In my mind if
the cone land is machined correctly and there are no high spots then the
shims are not required.

problem seems to have settled. Initially I tried a number of routes and
can't honestly say any single one produced the fix, however this is what I
do now and the problem has not resurfaced for a number of years. It seemed
heavily exacerbated during track days, with,I guess, the extremes of
cornering, braking and accelerating. What I now do is the following:

1. Check the land in the centre of the hub is clean and flat with no
protrusions from punch marks caused during removal. I know from our
earlier discussions you do this.
2. Assemble and torque to spec checking that the wheel is free to rotate.
Sometimes this seems to be so. I generally do this on the bench and always
remove the hub so can easily work on it.
3. If rotation is tight and I am positive there are no protrusions; I have
a choice of three shim sizes 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 mm thick and use minimum
shims between the inner races to allow the bearing to just freely rotate.
4. Keep checking for tightness. I carry a socket and bar in the car and
frequently check, when it is convenient. The only time a problem has
occurred is on the track, but not had a problem for a few years now.

Having said all that, the big variation can only really be the high spots
on the spacer land and I suspect early on I did not do a good enough job of
flattening these. I am probably more diligent now. If you need any
spacers they are readily available on line. Just measure the bore size and
you should find some. If not I can mail some to you. The other issue is
which side you have the cack thread on. Can let you know what mine is if
you wish and have spent many hours and discussions trying to figure what is
correct. Mine are per standard Sierra guidelines.

For repair kits try bigg red http://www.biggred.co.uk.
I have used them for trying to identify my Sierra master cylinder version on

Re: [Quantum Owners] Abridged summary of quantumowners@googlegroups.com - 2 updates in 1 topic

2018-09-22 Thread Nigel Plant
hi Robert
I posted a response yesterday, but for some reason it hasnt appeared. I am
a little confused by your installation. Firstly, I assume your car has no
heater and secondly where is your cooling fan switch? Mine has a T piece
where your sensor is, with one side of the T going to the heater return and
the other to the same water sensor as yours. My cooling fan switch is on
top of the Tstat housing where your blank is.
Having said all that, my sensor is the same as yours and wss originally
supplied with the raceline assembly by Quantum. So per my missing post
from yesterday, when it appears, I would try Raceline or a Raceline dealer
such as Burton Power or Demon Tweeks.

Nigel

RE: [Quantum Owners] Water Temp Sensor

2018-09-22 Thread Nigel Plant
On the zetec Xtreme installation, there is no space for a temp sensor on old
thermostat housing which is where the raceline bolts on as there is no
clearance to the bulkhead. The intermediate position is used for a T piece
connected to the water temp sensor and heater hose. Thus leaving the tstat
housing for the cooling fan temp sensor.

I will check mine later to see if can help. What about buying from Burton Power
who sell Raceline or Raceline themselves.

Out of interest have you checked yours? I have found on mine that the tstat
housing is very high and if the water level is down ie expansion tsnk below the
sensor the fan performance gets erratic or doesn't work. I assume due to an air
lock.

[Quantum Owners] Rear demist

2018-08-06 Thread Nigel Plant
Just a simple alternate aporoach, from a bit of random thinking.

You can pick up cheap electric 12v car demisters, that heat the incoming air
that can then be ducted to the screen. However these seem to be located in the
far East or the US.
My take would be buy a 12v hair dryer, not expensive, locate in the boot, then
duct the air outlet to the screen via methods already described. If this works
ok, you can then install it properly, take the handle and switch off, tidy the
housing, make a u shaped mount and wire it in to a switched live from the dash,
may need a relay.
The hamsters could also use the tube to play in.

know. The alternator voltage was alternator B+ to earth on engine. Will
start tomorrow with earth to body which should then tell me if problem is

Re: [Quantum Owners] Re: 2+2 Charging - or not!!

2018-07-14 Thread Nigel Plant
Yes, I'm around there. Not had much time today, but did hook voltmeter up.
15v from alternator, no difference across battery between engine running
and not, around 12.6V indicating a poor connection across starter. Main
battery earth and all auxiliaries cleaned with no difference. Am favouring
Steve's input and will clean/ check all leads between battery and
alternator on Sunday, they are very oily!
The bit I am struggling with is 15v from alternator going to ignition bulb,
why does it light up? Is it because alternator is supplying a higher
voltage to bulb than it receives from battery. So there is a nett 2.5 v
across the bulb. I had always assumed light glowed when battery voltage was
higher than alternator output. Guess it's all logical unless a diode is
present preventing a reverse current.
Some of this is rhetorical haven't really got my thoughts together yet.
Still will get there.

[Quantum Owners] 2+2 Charging - or not!!

2018-07-12 Thread Nigel Plant
Went out to the 2+2 and had a flat battery. Seemingly no ignition light on so
charged battery and tried again. Soon was flat again. Checked the light more
carefully and it was glowing slightly increasing in intensity if I put
headlights on. I had missed this as it was nigh on impossible to see in this
good weather. Put a new alternator on as previously had fitted my Xtreme spare.
No difference.

After scratching my head I assume an earthing problem somewhere or high
resistance in wire to charging light. So here's my question. Is there s
favourite place to start looking on the 2+2?

Also I am used to only two wires on the alternator the battery wires and the
ignition light (blue). This car had a third connection onto the W terminal
which I thought was a pulse signal. I couldn't figure what this was for so
didn't connect it on the new alternator and can't spot anything wrong, apart
from not charging Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks
Nigel

No not done it yet. Started the job, but first checked alternator with fan
belt off. Lo and behold noise was alternator bearings, had a spare from the
Xtreme so fitted that. So can belt and water pump waiting to be done.
Thanks for all the inputs.

Thanks for the responses, looked again and seems straight forward. I had looked

not.
Will sort next weekend all being well. Yes it does have the vertical legs at
front so will just drill those out per Jim suggestion.

[Quantum Owners] 2+2 Steering Wobble

2018-06-09 Thread Nigel Plant
It's fun learning a new car!! The 2+2 I recently bought has a slight wobble on
the steering wheel, similar to wheel unbalance or buckled wheel, but have ruled
those out. It can first be noticed at around 35 mph, becomes more noticeable at
higher speeds, whereas wheel unbalance comes in at higher speeds and exists in
a comparitively narrow band. I have switched front to back wheels and checked
tyres.
I vaguely remember driving a saloon some years, which had a similar problem,
which leads me to think there may be some generic issue, part of the reason for
the post. Have tried to ascertain whether worse on certain corners but no real
conclusion. All I can think of is drive shafts. No play in any of the wheels.
Any ideas/ experiences appreciated.
Thanks

[Quantum Owners] 2+2 Timing Belt

I need to change the timing belt and water pump - 1.6 CVH. A quick question; is
there enough space to the side to get the covers off and do this or do I need a

reading that a Zetec is real tight but CVH is Ok.
Any tips for anything out of the norm is appreciated.

[Quantum Owners] 2+2 Carburettor Problems

2018-05-14 Thread Nigel Plant
Hi All
Yes the title is correct, I have just purcahsed a 2+2 in addition to the
Xtreme. Driving back from collecting it, it did less than 15mpg!!! I
quickly noticed it was idling very fast and smelt as if running very rich.
Other than that it was fine. Although have not yet taken air cleaner off
to check anything, I am assuming:

   - Dirty air cleaner
   - Choke stuck on
   - Mixture incorrectly set, which I assume can adjust.

At this stage am just after any common problems I need to check for. The
donor from which all parts come from is a Fiesta XR2 registered in Dec
1985, I assume a mk 2. 1600 cvh.

Next stage will be strip and rebuild the carburettor. Does the appropriate
Haynes have instructions for stripping the carburettor? Its ben about 40
years since I've played with anything other than a lawnmower carb. The car
has ben stood for 6 months every year so am also slightly concerned may be
some gumming of the fuel, although unlikely as would expect to see other
problems .

Any help appreciated

Nigel

[Quantum Owners] Zetec Crank Position Sensor

2017-07-01 Thread Nigel Plant
Have rebuilt an engine for my zetec xtreme, but cannot get it started. The Omex
ECU is not seeing the CPS signal. Have checked all wiring, sensor and signals.
Have put an oscilloscope at the ECU end of the wiring and although getting a
signal of sorts it is very noisy. I finally decided to check the flywheel holes
line up with the sensor hole and it seems there is about 2 or 3mm offset.

Now the question. The new engine is from an automatic. Flywheel etc from my old
engine. Can anyone tell me conclusively if the automatic CPS is in a different
position to the manual one. A bit if googling indicates it is, so looks like
engine out again. Ouch.

[Quantum Owners] Xtreame Front Bearings torque settings?

2017-05-05 Thread Nigel Plant
Long topic this. The Xtreme front hubs have the same internal bearing housing
as the Sierra hubs, use the same bearings and tightening torque. From memory
around 300 NM of torque.
Thats the easy bit.
I had problems as have some others with the nuts caysing the bearings to
tighren when torqued, I also have hadnproblems on track days eith the nuts
loosening. I think it is solved now, since putting a new hub on.
What I do is; clean the centre lands in the bearing housing so that there are
no high spots from punching the bearing cones out; then bench assembly to the
specced torque, if the wheel spins freely all good. If it clamps up I put a
very thin shim between the inner bearing race and centre land and tighten. I
think the issue was poor control of the tolerance on the centre land thickness
on some hubs. I did compare mine with a sierra hub and it was slightly down,
but i didnt know what the design dimensions are. I have shims if you ever need
any.
Hope thats useful. The short answer is use Sierra torque, howdver if nousy,
surely they should be changed or maybe thats whst you are doing.

[Quantum Owners] Zetec engines

2017-02-05 Thread Nigel Plant
They are not a bad price for a new engine. The zetec's are a very strong and
reliable engine. The bigger question is do you really need a new one? Ive just
picked up one with 80k miles for £130 as a spare and there are plenty for
around £150 to £200.
It really depends what your objectives are?

For information should anyone require an Xtreme windscreen. I recently had

I also bought a heated screen a while ago from Mark Burley, complete with

Re: [Quantum Owners] Xtreame dampener adjustment ?

2016-06-18 Thread Nigel Plant
I generally agree with Ian's comments, but I if its that noticeable, I would be
surprised if it was the dampers. Other things to check are the spring rates. If
Quantum supplied them, they had three different sets, road, road / track and
track. I switched from road to road/ track. That was far more noticeable than
any changes I made to damper settings. If you want to try, I still have the
original road springs. I covered this in a QM article once giving the actual
rates. If necessary I could dig them out. Also check how tight the suspension
bolts are at the back. I have heard that they can be overtightened, clamping
the suspension, causing the ride height to 'ratchet' down with driving. Finally
check the spring preload by measuring the ride height, just in front of rear
snd behind front wheels. By memory it should be 5.5 and 5 inches rear to front
respectively.

the various types. My current diff is the sierra 7.5 inch lobro shafts, I may
buy new internals or a second hand plate type. Practical options seem to boil
down to Quaife ATB or Titan plate for new, or a standard ford plate type SH
unit. It also seems that options for the 7.5 inch are significantly more
expensive than the 7 inch.

What I am interested in are peoples experiences wuth the various types eg is
the loss of drive with the Quaife when one wheel completely loses grip a real
issue? I mainly use the car for track days, with maybe 1000 miles oa of road.

See you at Stobeleigh

Re: [Quantum Owners] Xtreame fuel pump upgrade?

2016-04-10 Thread Nigel Plant
Hi Robert. I suspect you gave the standard Quantum set up with flow and return
pipe. On Omex system, when you first turn ignigion on without starting the pump
pressurises for approx 10 secs then stops. It is noisy. Whats puzzling me is
that there shouldn't be sny difference switching from plenum to bodies, so you
must have changed something. I am actually puzzled as to why you didnt have the
noise before.

[Quantum Owners] Xtreame fuel pump upgrade?

2016-04-10 Thread Nigel Plant
Sorry forgot the sump bit. Mine is standard blacktop, with alloy sump casing
and steel pan on bottom. It does look low, but has never been a major problem,
but I do go sliwly over speed bumps. A few times I have scraped it going fast
on bumpy roads snd off track excursions. When I had the sump off a couple of
years ago, I welded a 3 mm pkate on the bottom as it was getting a little thin.
I believe Ian H has same configuration too.

[Quantum Owners] Quantum Sunrunner

2016-01-03 Thread Nigel Plant
Happy New Year. I have been contacted by a gentleman whi is building a
Sunrunner and needing technical support, no doubt he will be posting on here
soon! In the meantime it would be really heloful if anyone knows of the
location of a complete Sunrunner. To my knowledge nine were ever sold! This
gentleman, based near Walsall obtained his from Staffordshire University, when
they closed the motorsport department. It is chassis number 003. I believe 001
was the green original owned by Quantum Heritage and 002 unknown.
If anyone can help please post.

Re: [Quantum Owners] Misfiring Zetec

2015-10-29 Thread Nigel Plant
Hi Bob
Is yours an Xtreme? If so, am curious about the inlet manifold configuration,
but as for the misfire, would either suspect a wire connection issue on the
injectors (did you buy it with turbo?) Or if an xtreme and the turbo sits high
with coil pack on the side, the turbine can be quite near the coil pack,
causing it to get too hot. I shielded mine to avoid a potential problem

[Quantum Owners] Re: Quantum

2015-09-07 Thread Nigel Plant
Hi Alan
I have been in touch with Mark, he is currently on holiday andvhas promised to
sort this when he gets back - I am trying to source a windscreen, which I
broke at Donington last week. Now i understand more about your situation, i
will get in touch and get an assurance he can supply. Before I do would that be
good enough for you?

For all xtreme owners to note: Mark is committed to the Xtreme and has
experienced difficulties with the current depressed market. To keep things
alive he is working a full time job and will fully resurrect things in the
medium term. Using the e mail he will continue to supply parts. He has asked
for our patience and support during what us a difficult time for him. This
topic will be discussed at the committee meeting in October. Although it is
frustrating, we all have a common goal and I am sure this will eventually come
good. I realise this could generate lots of posts, positive and negative. I
respectfully request everyone to keep any posts positive and constructive.

Re: [Quantum Owners] Front ball joints on Xtreme

2015-08-21 Thread Nigel Plant
Hmm an interesting one, note mine erre metro too. First a few checks, which you
have likley done.
Offer the two metro joints to each other mating the old joint against the new
one, troughs into peaks. A good visual check on the thread pitch. Check the
minor diameter too with a sharp edged digital verner.

I also note you have put the joints into the hub and are trying to assemble
that into the a link. I struggle that way and tend to screw into the A link
first and then assemble to the hub. As the large threads are similar on the
metro joint and quantum adaptor (i thought the same) are you reassembling with
the same joint orientation? I would also disassemble the joints off the hub and
try to screw into the A link unencumbered by the hub.

You seem to be doing everything correctly, but i cant help feeling there is
something being missed here. Sorry this is not super helpful, but i would
persevere double and triple checking. If the problem still persists, try a
different brand of metro joint.

[Quantum Owners] adding fuel out let to bottom of Xtreme tank

2014-10-27 Thread Nigel Plant
Sorry had missed this post. The original tank as supplied by Q hsd the oitlet
at the bottom, but for some reason I cant remember, I beleve it was a late
addition by Q, when they started the zetec and injection route. The inside of
the tank has a kind of swirl baffle system, to attempt to prevent the outlet
becoming fuelless! However this didnt work well on mine and some others that I
know of. On left hand corners on the track or once going onto the M27, with
guel tank less than half full, the engine would die through fuel starvation.
I looked at putting a swirl pot on, but couldnt find any plce to put one. I
eventually welded an aux catch tank under the existing outlet together with
additional feed holes to cover all corners! I also kmow Q did a mod to another
owners car which was simpler and I didnt think as good, but I do know it is
working fine.
I have photos that I can send you and more details if you are interested or
better still can have a chat if you are at curborough.

Haven't been able to check the car yet but have checked the Zetec build
manual and Omex wiri8ng diagram.
Connector pin 3 (blue wire) of the Omex 500 is an aux used for a relay
powering the fuel pump, coil pack, injectors and lambda. There is a wiring
diagram for this in the Zetc/ Omex supplement. Can scan and send if you
wish.

On a separate note, I see your e mail address 'via gelia' this was the
local name given to the road from Newhaven to Cromford, near where I grew
up in Buxton. Is there a connection!

Re: [Quantum Owners] Extreme fuel pump

2014-10-22 Thread Nigel Plant
As chris says, take the rear tub off, it seems a big job, but is actually
quite easy. When you put a new one on, put it on the bulkhead behind the
passenger seat, per Chris above, ghen you can easily access with just taking
the rear NS wheel off.

Is your car injection or carb? Mine is injection and the tank outlet is on the
tank bottom, so am a little puzzled why the pump is on top, unless this is how
earlier ones were plumbed with carbs and low pressure pump.

Note also when removing the tub, you will likely have to remove harnesses at
the top, where they attach throigh the tub and also there maybe two self
tappers behind the seats holding the tub panel against frame. There are also
two fasteners at the front botyom of the wheel arch, to stop it flapping around.

Welcome to being a Quantum owner. The only source of the specs would likely be
Quantum themselves or a previous owner. It is possible someone on here may know

Most of the Xtremes are Ford Pinto engines, and later ones have the Zetec in
its various guises. A few have different engines as on offs. Yours as a 52 reg
is probably pinto.

You are though certainly in the right place to ask any questions regarding
