My opinion on these matters is to minimally change the interface, by
adding extended parts, not to create a special extension. Check out

This is a common setup so you probably shoudln't have any issues

If the column's not there, you need to re-run the migration, or set
hte migration version to 0 and run. Check the database and see what
schema versions are there. The schema.rb file will be wrong (because
extension migrations don't update there). So I'd advise running the
migration as:

I'm running the wordpress migrator, and one thing I noticed is that
the model files shouldn't be run in order. User.rb first, then
Post.rb, etc. I'll document it in the README until I have time to
fork/batch/pull req.
