Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio reboots often, Out of Memory
Image screensaver it not that plugin, which would show the picture on the radio? I mean the picture you can see on the server (like covers or logos). Because befor the bbc plugin, that has worked but now on only shows black on the radio, while on the server it's still there. No, the screensaver I was referring to would allow you to show a slideshow of whatever pictures like a picture frame. Is there a configuration setting anywhere in the slimserver config files that might allow for a lower - say 5ms - sync adjustment? So even if you changed the value in the prefs file (which you could do while LMS was powered down), next time you'd touch the Radio's settings it might reset that value to 10. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] SB Radio as network speaker useable - stream music from android tablet / ipad to SB?
I would like to know, whether it is possible to stream music from android client (tablet/ mobilephone) or apple client (iphone/ipad) to a squeezebox radio. That question is rather generic. There are various solutions which might get you there partially. Eg. there's the ShairPort plugin which IMHO would expose a SB to Airplay - so here's a yes. Android would rather use Chromecast - but that's not available for SSB. For instance in the spotify app you can choose on which device the music should be played - here I can choose the tablet/ipad itself or network speakers like google nest devices, that are integrated in my network. And this is yet another vendor specific protocol. And it can be enabled in Spotty's settings. Though it admittedly can be a bit fragile. ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] WiFi connection unstable/lost on three Radios
The part I'm still not clear about: Michael suggested doing something with the iMac OR a newer Mac OS as the fix. It's not clear to me what that would fix, calling up the router to the radio or (then?) bringing up MSB.com? If you really have a networking issue, then no, this won't fix it. What isn't clear to anybody in this thread seems to be what exact issue you have. You described many things. Among which there was "I can access music in Julie's iMac BUT all my favorites that AFAIK are on my squeezebox.com are gone.". That's the part my suggestion would fix. But if your players go red antenna because they indeed lost network connection to your WiFi, then my suggestion is of no help. But I'm not sure whether you have a networking problem, or a confusion wrt. the music source. Because the red antenna can mean too many things: if you play music from your wife's computer, but that computer goes to sleep, then you'd get a red antenna, too. Therefore let's concentrate on one thing and forget about LMS and the Mac for a moment. Connect the players to mysqueezebox.com. Only play online music, don't even try to browse music on the Mac. Would you still get the red antenna? Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Upgrade SB Radio to UE Radio
I have a problem whose solution is perhaps to migrate to UE RADIO. Hardly any problem will be solved by this migration. SB sees much more development than UE. I've had my squeezebox for 10 years and mostly listen to internet radio and podcasts. For the past few months, several stations have stopped working. But if I listen to them with “tune in” on a PC, it works. the station still exist Maybe it's related to the squeezebox? Could someone who has already migrated to UE radio tell me if the French station "RMC" is working. Most likely these stations migrated to using https rather than http. Unfortunately the devices (neither UE nor SB) do support https. You'd have to run LMS and connect your Radio to LMS, which then would proxy the stream for you. This test would allow me to know if it works and therefore to migrate to “UE”. I looked into what I believe is the "RMC" station you mentioned. And it does indeed re-direct to an https URL. Someone maybe asked this already but I didn't see a clear response: what is the point of bothering with tediously patching a bunch of radios now LMS8 has the version comparison hack? When I run the released version of LMS8 my radios seem to work fine. It's a bug, and it's good to have the bug fixed. LMS might have a work around it. But who knows what comes next. Running LMS 7.9.3 (after downgrading from 8.0.1), I tried installing the "Version Comparison Fix" patch on two SB radios. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio quality
I also have a squeezebox portable. What is that? A SB Radio? When I connect the LMS to the portable it offers me 192 or 320kbps. When I connect to the classic I only get the 192 option. Any body know why as I would like the higher quality on the classic? Radio Paradise offers several different streams. Lossy choices are mp3 or AAC. The Classic cannot play AAC, that's why you'd only see the 192kbps mp3 stream. Using the Radio Paradise plugin you'd get FLAC, as you've seen. Incl. an interactive mode where you can skip tracks. -- Michael ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] How to detach the squeezebox from the Logitech media server?
Hi Katia I will try to explain my problem using google translator. > I apologize in advance if everything is not clear and exposed > correctly. I'm actually surprised by the quality of the translation! The big big problem is that the radio is totally controlled by LMS to the point that it is not even possible to select the stored stations directly on the device. Do the six preset buttons no longer work? Alternatively, i would also like to keep this option, but of course maintaining, indeed recovering the radio functionality independent of the LMS, therefore with the PC off or LMS stopped. In LMS web interface there is a menu Extras, which has an item Music Source (Sorgente musicale). This should allow you to send the Radio to mysqueezebox.com. -- Michael ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Community Build Radio Firmware
Why is there any reboot required? I may have misspoken. It would be enough to restart SqueezePlay, I think, if it were possible to do it without triggering the watchdog. I suspect that may not be easily done, in any robust manner. ralphy wrote: I have a script on my radio that just restarts squeezeplay twice a month to keep the radio from rebooting every ~21days from the timer variable overflow issue. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Community Build Radio Firmware
My restart script requests the current power state of the radio from LMS before restarting squeezeplay, then waits 30 seconds after squeezeplay restarts before restoring the saved power state. Might there be any advantage in doing the auto reboot via an Applet ? I assume it can be done. It might allow for more sophistication in restoring state (if, indeed, more sophistication would be helpful). I'll add my voice here to confirm that I've been using that firmware for several months without any issue. Remove Napster/Rhapsody support as logitech source code is private. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Two SBRs are interacting with each other
What happened: I powered up old SBR b/c new SBR wouldn't connect to ntwk. Suddenly on its own, after the old SBR booted up, the new SBR connected to ntwk, and its controls command the other radio. Actually, that's what is happening: on the new Radio you selected to control the other Radio. The new one serves as a remote control for the other. "Player type: Remote" means it's acting as a remote, not as the player. Go to Settings/Select Player and select the other device. On a slightly different subject, I can get some additional Radios from a friend. However, if mysqueezebox.com is not going to support streaming radio stations, then I am not sure I want to buy them. I would prefer not to have to run LMS all the time. It is already difficult because some radio stations seems to not support the Radio and force you to use an application. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Radio would not connect to LMS 8: "Update required"
With the latest 8.0 version the instructions that were provided within the server settings page for updating the player did not work. I could enable the patch applet on the SB radio but it would then become unresponsive and show that it was disconnected from the server. Unresponsive after you tried to patch it? While patching it? Or any time? Sometimes hard power cycling it would get it to work for a little while but the controls are slow and unresponsive. I suspect the player cpu is completely overwhelmed with some process activity but don't know if I can debug it (doubt it has ssh access, etc.). Settings/Advanced/Remote Access allows you to enable ssh. The image viewer screen saver is known to use a lot of CPU and memory. Just in case you happened to be using it. i have been having a lot of trouble with my SBs and these newer versions. My SB Boom would just randomly turn itself on and start playing music, something it's never done in the 7 years I've owned it. The SB Radios will periodically disconnect from the server and not reconnect. I see you have a NAS which is exposed to the internet. Is it heavily loaded (Plesk)? None of this. If you run the latest LMS8 you should be just fine, and able to install the patch.
