[SlimDevices: Radio] Icon Oddity
I'm running LMS 7.9.4-1603273368 on a Win 10 Pro PC. I have a Radio and a Touch. Typically the server PC runs 24/7 with a once a month reboot. When it rebooted most recently the icons on the Radio for the radio stations that have declared favorites stopped appearing. This is a heart icon that appeared when any favorite was playing. The screen is blank except for the name of the station at the top of the screen. The stations that 'broadcast' a station logo used to override the heart icon. Now even they don't appear. What makes this an oddity is that the icons appear as they always have when using the Touch. Does anyone have any ideas as to why they would appear on the Touch but not on the Radio? At first I suspected LMS even though I've been using this version for months. But since ti's only happening on the Radio, I'm pretty sure it's not LMS. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] IP Address won't Stick
There now appears to be another issue. Using the web UI I can't access LMS settings, plugins, etc. I have tried Waterfox, Firefox, Chrome, and IE. All of the end up on a blank page. It almost feels like a network issue, but there's connectivity between the Win10 box I use as a main computer and the Win10 box where LMS lives. I can ping one from the other. Again, this is the exact same setup I had before the move. The only network change is in the IP address provided by my ISP. Suggestions? phred's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=52602 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112702 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
[SlimDevices: Radio] IP Address won't Stick
Running LMS 7.9.3 - 1584993250 on a Win10 box. I've been using this setup with my Radio for many years with no unsolvable issues. I just moved and had the place wired with CAT5 and the Radio is connected to Ethernet. However, the IP address will not stick. I have manually entered it a number of times today and the end result is that LMS Control Panel shows it as a completely different address. I'm trying to get 192.168.1.11 to be the static address. The IP showing in the Control Panel is 169-254-2xx.xx I have DHCP and WiFi turned off at the router. I have a touch somewhere in one of the cartons yet to be unpacked so I can't test to see if that is doing the same thing. But it wouldn't matter as I need the Radio to be connected first. Suggestions? I've power-cycled the radio at least a dozen times in the last hour. But after seeing your 'half-connected' message I did it again. And still no change. on mysb.com I can not disconnect the radio. I click on 'disconnect' and get the pop up warning. I click 'OK' and after a screen refresh the radio is still connected. HOWEVER!!! I just followed kidstypike's suggestion about manually entering the IP address for a remote library and everything is working as expected!! I was even able to disconnect the radio from mysb.com. I won't consider the issue completely resolved until another day or two, but at least at this point I can waste some time getting my apps configured. slartibartfast wrote: > If you click on "My Music" on the Radio menu you should be prompted to > connect to the LMS server. > Thanks. When I click on My Music it tries to connect but after about a minute I get a 'problem connecting' error message. It never gives me an option to connect to LMS. It -does- give me an option to 'switch library' but when I select that it goes back to 'problem connecting'. So I'm just about giving up on this unit. I will cherish my old, original, and working well Radio. And treat it gingerly. I will exchange this new (old) one and hope for better luck. phred's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=52602 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109817 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Setting up an Additional Radio
I've reached a good news/bad news point in my attempt to configure this new (used) Radio. The good news is that the device now shows up on mysqueezebox.com. Thanks to mherber for resetting the MAC address in the database. The bad news is that despite following Apesbrain's detailed instructions (in reply #4 above) the device is showing some funky behavior. It does not appear in the LMS info tab. Which leads to other problems such as it not being able to see my music. Nor my favorites. Nor just about anything else. I have reset the device to Factory Defaults more than once. It's almost like the device isn't on the local network, but it is. I can ping it and get a response. I'm using a static IP on a WiFi network. The icon at the bottom right of the Radio shows it is connected. A scan of the network with two different apps shows it connected on one app but not visible on the other. Needless to say I have rechecked the IP config and the addresses are correct. Unless someone can come up with further troubleshooting steps, I'm going to declare this unit not fully operational and return it for another. The seller has been very helpful to this point as far as allowing me to exchange it for another one. phred's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=52602 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109817 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

FWIW, LMS > is running on a Windows 7 box. > Thanks. While waiting for an answer to my original post, I have discovered that this new (used) unit can't load/see any plugins. Nor can it connect to any radio stations that I have set up in the Favorites section. Looking at my original Radio, the firmware on both is the same (and the latest.) And plugins on the original (specifically Custom Clock Helper and Super Date Time) don't appear on the new device. When trying to connect to a 'Favorite' internet radio station this new device throws a "Connection reset by remote host" error. I can reach the same stations on the original radio. Does the 'remote host' in the error message refer to my LMS server? Or to the actual host of the internet station? Either way it doesn't make sense since my original radio connects. The 'Information' tab on LMS (7.9.2 - 1533559127) shows the device is connected. I'd like to get this resolved in the next day or two so that I still have the option to return the device for a refund. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to get this resolved? Or do you think the device is faulty? [SlimDevices: Radio] Hypothetical Situation
This hasn't happened to me (yet) but I'm kept awake at night worrying about it. Perhaps it's happened to someone else and they can put my mind at ease. I'm running a Radio connected to LMS on a Windows box. I count on the Radio's alarm for my morning wake up in order to get to work somewhat on time. IOW, it's a clock radio. Some days it's set to the stream of a local radio station, while other days it's set to play some of my music tracks (stored on another computer in the house - not the one where LMS lives.) If the LMS computer goes down during the night, I know the alarm will still be triggered, but would it be able to connect to the streaming station and/or my music? I suppose I can stop LMS temporarily and set an alarm for a few minutes from now, and see what happens, but I thought I'd ask the experienced ones first. Thanks for your insight. -- phred phred's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=52602 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93578 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Hypothetical Situation
Thanks for the link to Fa Fa Fa. That'll certainly wake me up. @Mnyb - my music is on a different computer than where LMS lives. That would mean I -will- hear those alarms, yes? It would only be the radio streams that fail, correct? And yes, I was speaking of a situation where I did not lose power in the house, but for whatever reason, the LMS computer failed. Power supply dies, NIC fails, gets turned off by mistake, etc. So my router/cable modem would still be working. Therefore the Radio would be able to see the internet. Is the issue that LMS triggers the alarm, and not the actual Radio device? Does mysqueezebox.com come into play at all in this type of situation? The Radio shows an IP address for it. Thanks everyone for the pointers. -- phred phred's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=52602 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93578 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Hypothetical Situation
I've tried a few scenarios and all of them had the same result: - alarm set to play radio stream with LMS not available - alarm set to play music track/playlist with LMS not available - alarm set to play music track/playlist with music not available The default backup alarm (Fa Fa Fa) plays in every instance. However, I noticed two things with this. It look a little while for the backup alarm to launch. Under normal circumstances the alarm is heard when the minute flips over. With the backup, it took about 20-30 seconds for it to come on. More interesting (to me anyway) was the fact that the backup sound came from the Radio's speaker. I have a pair of powered computer speakers plugged into the headphone jack so I can have stereo music. But when Fa Fa Fa played, it was from the device itself. Which lead me to a final test scenario: - alarm set to play, speakers plugged in the headphone jack, power to the speakers turned off, LMS available. Amazingly, the stream came from the Radio's speakers. At this point, I turned off the alarm (at the Radio,) turned on the powered speakers, and turned on the radio. And the sound came from the powered speakers. At least I'll sleep better tonight knowing that if the box where LMS lives crashes, something will still wake me up. -- phred phred's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=52602 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93578 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

bluegaspode;690376 Wrote: One final thing to note about the backup alarm: you should always configure the alarm via the Radio itself. If you are using the web-interface (or a remote on your phone or tablet) to change the alarm time then in the worst case your Radio is not really connected to the server (and thus never gets notified about the new alarm time). Then the fallback alarm also is not configured at the right time. If you configure the alarm directly on the Radio then you realize if it still has a connection to your server. Thanks bluegaspode, that final note is more great info. Spinning the large knob on the Radio is somewhat unwieldy - moreso for alpha than numeric - but I have been using the web interface to set the alarms. I've now reset them at the device itself. -- phred phred's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=52602 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93578 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] System error ... what's that about?
Also in the US. I've had my Radio for about two weeks and I woke up to see a System Error on it this morning. It showed two options: Send diagnostics or Don't send diagnostics. (I'm not quoting, but that was the gist of the options.) I clicked Don't and the Radio was fine. Didn't need a restart or anything. I went downstairs and looked at my Touch and it was fine. -- phred phred's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=52602 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=92683 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
