I cannot believe I missed this. I actually asked Grant about a 64 cm Clem-L
last winter after building up my wife's normally sized Clem. Grant said
they had considered it, sent me the plans for it, and told me to keep an
eye on the Blug. I missed the announcement and I see they're gone already.
Interesting, my hub had to be replaced for the same reason after a couple
of years. I wonder if it happens because the end caps unscrew in use. I see
they've changed the torque recommendation from 12 Nm to 20 Nm...

My 68 cm Bombadil didn't like having a two-leg stand attached to the plate.
It was never that stable, the stand kept coming loose and the plate ended
up deformed.
On the other hand my better half has one attached to the plate on her 54 cm
Homer and it's fine (four years, no problems). There is

Actually, not meaning to muddy the waters here, but both of the Nitto
binder-bolt mounted cable hangers that Riv sells interfered with seatpost
clamping on my Bombadil. I fixed it by switching to Surly's cable hanger.
Could also just use a smaller-diameter bolt. Is it worth a try to go around

definitely improved matters but the stand still comes loose after a while.
Seems like my bike is too big/heavy for a centre-mount kickstand, which is
a shame. I like the convenience of having the kickstand to hold the bike

It will probably depend on the tyres and stud placement to some degree. My
guess, without actually knowing your setup, is that any tyres that require
65 mm fender are going to be too big for a 'cyclocross' mini V-brake. I

(30 mm) and room for more tyre. I test-fit 60 mm Big Apples in there with

I also didn't really like the CR720s. Tried them on two bikes, always Kool
Stop salmon pads, and in the end I switched to Shimano CX70s, which are
much more flexible (in theory you could set them up with more or less MA
than the Tektros) and have a lot less slop on the posts than the CR720s.
Just a quick follow-up, I got one of Surly's long cable hangers
http://surlybikes.com/parts/small_parts/cable_hanger and it doesn't
interfere with the binder bolt / collar like the Nitto one did. So, no

holder of my V-brakes scraping against the top of the fenders. The brakes
still work but the feel at the levers is yucky.

I have two Bombadils, an older parallel-undertube and a newer tentacular.
Older takes a 27.2 mm post and newer 26.8 mm.
Both fit 60 mm big apples on Dyad rims, although it's a bit tighter on the
older one at the chainstays.
I'm using 53 mm tyres (50 mm measured on 31 mm rims) on the older one

CX70s the pads are offset from the brake arm by a centimetre or two, allowing

Can I ask this question a different way...? Has anyone on here had a riv or
similar stolen whilst locked TO something, and if so what sort of lock were
you using and how was it defeated?
I have always used the heaviest ABUS D-lock I can find but I've recently
switched to a one of their Bordo
