Re: [RBW] Re: Daring to wrench on my Riv's?
Johann - no problem with up or down as long as it isn't in reference to direction you are pushing the wrench, like the other suggestion of down for out. Down with the wrench to the front or back? I suppose with a bottom bracket your wrench is facing the front of the bike, as the other orientation doesn't work as well. Johann, your memory aid seems good. Here's my Atlantis: https://www.flickr.com/photos/45758191@N04/15968356411/ I feel like this makes it easy for me to find it if I need it, and it has a believable timestamp on it, showing WHEN it became mine. Two questions for this knowledgeable group: 1. Has anyone put one of the Sun Race thumbies http://www.rivbike.com/product-p/sh3.htm that Riv sells or Falcon thumbies http://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/falcon-friction-thumb-shifters.html($12!) that VO sells on a stem? 2. [RBW] Re: Alternate mounting for Nitto Mark's Rack?
I did a similar thing on my Surly LHT, using the low rider mounts and threaded holes on the side of their crown. Seems pretty beefy to me, although I mainly use it for a Small TrunkSack so I don't load it up with big weight. Still, in 1.5 years of lots of bumpy riding it's never given any signs of coming loose or even flexing all that much. https://flic.kr/p/ePgvBT On Sunday, December 7, 2014 1:02:42 PM UTC-8, BSWP wrote: Has anyone ever mounted a Mark's Rack to the tops of the fork crown, on fork crowns that have threaded holes right where the forks would come poking through the crown if they weren't capped by the crown? Re: [RBW] Re: Help Choosing Tires - Jack Brown vs. Compass Stampede Pass
Thomas, I have been using the (old) Vittoria Randonneur Hypers (now Voyagers) in 35 38 mm on three bikes for a few years now with thousands of miles and no flats. Not only that, they seem as supple as Marathon Supremes without the price, though might not be quite as light. Getting great mileage, too. (Haven't worn one out yet.)
