To get you ready! It's finished minus the rear rack, the kickstand and as
stated, the fenders.
Sweet dreams!

Now that I have had some time with my Sam I have adopted a “Just Ride”
approach to enjoying it. I thought it would be fun to share a short list of
the things that have appealed to me most. Feel free to reply with list of
your own.
Riding in regular clothes (my favorite)
Flat grippy pedals
Thanks guys.
I was toying with the idea of something a little lighter and sportier than
my 56 Sam.
The Sam felt a tiny long for me with Noodles, even with an 8 cm stem. Much
better since I changed to Albas and an 11 cm stem a couple years ago. Bars
more or less level with the saddle depending

off? How about $1500 for the full bike, $900 for frame? Feel free to make
offers that are reasonable.
Thanks, Alan

Although my Clementine was a naturally comfortable fit out of the blocks, I
did give myself time to adapt to the upright position and the Bosco Bulls.
I have no issues with getting up out of the saddle to honk up a hill with
this setup. And of course it it no problem to gear down and spin up. I
Congrats on the Cheviot Rene. I'm expecting mine later this week. I noticed the
cable stops were moved in the photos. Looking like maybe tectro in the rear and
Paul in the front for me. I'm interested in how your tire fender fit goes.
Those are the tires I'm planning on using also.
Pics please
Hi Tim,
Photos will come later, but on the Cheviot, since it's a mixte, the top
tube intersects the seat tube in the middle, not at the top. For the rear
center pull brake, you need the cable to be on the top of the tube so the
cable yoke can be in front of the seat tube. Photos will clarify. And
Kai,Thanks. Would love to see photo. Jim D

On Saturday,
I'm sitting at home after bi-lateral hand surgery dreaming of riding the

Totally reasonable, and a great buy for the right person. If I didn't already
have one in that size, I would have leapt earlier.

Alan: I went back and looked at your original post (I find it useful to
include the original FS post and photos in bumps) and it looks like a very
nice bike and actually a good deal especially with rack and bags.

I do not care for the look of the bosco bulls that came with my Clem (H). I

like that the choco bars are flatter with less rise. I have contemplated a

FWIW, I paid $1000 shipped for my Redwood (came with 700c) with a very nice

Yesterday afternoon while out for a short but pleasant ride on the Saluki,
about 10 miles around a loop and five miles from home, I suddenly became
aware of a slight bumping sensation, which I surmised was coming from my
front tire. I couldn't see anything wrong with it but rode the last 5

it a fair bit, most commonly on continental tires. I doubt that it's from

I am cleaning out the bike garage. I am selling the following items:

Nice build Rene. Thanks for the photos. The tire clearance shots are very
helpful
Enjoy the ride

It's a leather top tube protector with a loop for the U-Lock. I discovered

Sky,
Your 650b Rom looks great. I like how the 650b tires look on the frame. I
have 1200 miles on mine and continue to enjoy the ride. I am not sensitive to
crank arm length, as I know others are, so going from a 170 to a 165 worked. It
worked so well I am slowly converting all my cranks to

Thanks Erl, I appreciate the kind words.
I might go all the way to 165mm myself - I just measured floor to pedal on
the rom vs the saluki and the saluki has 9cm clearance (with pari-moto 38mm
and 170mm crank), whereas the rom has 8cm clearance (with 42mm hetres and
175mm crank). so i ought

What a fantastic bike! I cannot believe this is the last batch. I thought
