The one feature that I see the Gus/Susie just begging for is a set of triple

Shimano compatible and Campy compatible...one of which is slightly larger
diameter than the other. Sorry, but I'm not sure which is larger. Maybe the
smaller one would not get stuck next time.

I wonder if perhaps your derailleur hanger is out of alignment? You might have
a shop check it. It is surprising how easy it can be to bend the hanger when
the bike falls over on that side.

I bought some of the smallest rubber vacuum hose from the auto parts store, cut
a couple of approx 3" long pieces, slit them lengthwise through one wall, then
