My experience is different. For me both Clem L and Cheviot are similar regarding effort to speed ratio. I have not found the Cheviot any speedier than the Clem. The Clem does better in rough stuff and is an equal on the road. Cheviot is easier to mount and dismount with load. Both are NOT bikes

I feel like slippage has little to do with bar weight or stem length. If you want less slip then you need to increase friction between stem and bar. A larger diameter bar/stem interface (31.8mm or 35mm) accomplishes this most elegantly. Friction paste and torque are other means. More exotic
