Greetings Jerry, I believe I remember reading some Trus Joist technical documentation which indicated no more than one hole should be drilled or lag screw/bolt driven into any cross sectional area of the top flange. If using the Quick Mount Q-Base with two lag screws/bolts, will you be orienting the Q-Base so that the two lags are in line vertically with each other or side by side?... Seems like side by side (straddling the web) may not be a good approach. The EZ-feet is supposedly rated to screw solely to roof sheeting. When we first investigated the product, we discovered the fasteners recommended were not properly rated for sheeting thickness ranges. I understand DPW corrected this. Nonetheless, we used the EZ feet and used longer sheet metal screws where the foot landed over the TJI. This way we were not using fasteners quite as large in diameter as a lag and we gained the rating for the screws into sheeting that don’t lie over the rafter. I am pretty sure if you look a the TJI specifications for holes and notching you have just about zero options when it comes to using them to resist an array's uplift. Blocking is about the only option unless you use the attachment method that secures each module to the roof's plywood sheathing.
