Hi kids
I'm tuning up a T1504A, which has the 430 - 470 cable set on it. Everything
looks good, except for one cavity - one of the lowpass/hi reject ones. I
can't seem to get a very good null on it, regardless of the loop position.
As a matter of fact, the reject seems to be getting better when

Ken,
Having refurbished and tuned a number of those cavities, I
would suspect it may not be getting a good low resistance
contact between the end of the coupling loop and the inside
of the cavity. I would suggest taking it apart and
thoroughly cleaning the inside of the cavity... especially

---Thanks Paul but I have already looked at the interior.
As a matter of fact, the reject seems to be getting better when it runs
up against the outside edge of the adjustment slot. But I never find a
definate point. The other 3 cavities are great - a nice, sharp, deep null,
just about centered in the slot.
I would guess you verified the 'rough'
Ken,
Assuming that the suspect cavity is not damaged or dented, the only
cause I can think of for the symptom you describe is a poor contact at
the grounded (adjustment) end of the loop. A lot of crud, not to
mention spiders, can enter the cavity through the open slots. I'm
pretty certain that

---It's nowhere near where the others are. Same coupling loops, oriented
the same way as the other lowpass/hi reject too. The internals looks fine
and clean.

Do you already have the loop moved to the 2nd hole which allows for more
adjustment. Just thought I would ask.
---Haven't tried that yet but the other lowpass cavity (the one that
appears to be ok) has the coupling loop in the same hole.

Ken,
You're right about this problem being a stumper! It seems as if you
have checked all the obvious things, and still, it does not work. Has
this duplexer worked before? If you don't know from personal experience

I've tuned a bunch of them up (have several waiting to go through the
spectrum analyzer in the next few weeks). I have several copies of the

Bradley,
I'm not sure what type of the many collinear
antennas you're trying to match. Are you working
on a coaxial type or an aluminum tube type.
Many collinear type antennas can be broken into
sections and matched at each section. You give
