In my years as a tech at a Mot MSS, we were told that most Motorola
PA's perform to spec until about 50% rated power. For a 25W radio, I
have run them at 10W with no problems. At 10W, with a good fan, I'd
say a Maxtrac/Radius mobile would probably be ok for continuous duty.

I have 3 Maxtracs UHF full duplex links that I use. I use 2 radios at each
end of the link. The TX Power is set at 10-12 watts out into a 25 watt 10dB
pad to get about 1 watt to the duplexer. I get about 600mW out to the
antenna. I run these on an modem at 9600 baud. They work

If you have a 25 Watt Maxtrac, GM300, CDM750, CDM1250, etc. They were
all sold as 1 - 25 watts, this means that you can set those ones most
anywheres you like. I have several 25 watt radios as link radios. At
least one of them is set to 2 watts, and the other is at 15.
