Well, I was counting on another factor -- you tell someone you made a change
and then ask them if they notice. There's always someone that will say they
notice - even if you did nothing.

I enjoyed the comment about not touching anything and you will get
comments that the repeater is not working as well as it used to. Here's
another one:

You go up to the site to make an adjustment ot take a power reading and as

changed to protect the guilty) start talking on the machine after hopping
over from another repeater. You let them talk a few minutes but realize

Usually, the person that complains is 30 air miles from the site,
running a scratchy-talkie on low power and rubber duck, and lying in
bed.
And he wonders why he can't get the machine full scale...

This is good advice Eric:
Please add to it the caution that you want to be careful how many times

I knew a guy that was convinced that when he wasn't making the
repeater, he could make his mobile rig put out more power by squezing
the PTT key harder. That worked ok in his mind until he snaped the
PTT switch off the mic's printed circuit board and nearly destroyed
the plastic housing.
Anyway,
No one better, out local Cell Phone company took care of a customer service issue by telling them that they doubled the power of their phone in the computer system, and that should fix the reception issue. Sad part was, the guy bought it, it did work better for a few days, not that propogation
First look at the repeater-builder.com website under Motorola, then Maxtrac.
There is a manual power control mod that is worth looking at. In many
cases the power control routines lose control on out-of-range frequencies,
and run the radio wide open. This behavior is most commonly seen on

Gary,
Is your UHF Station one of the rare "FM" models or does it use a (more
common) phase modulated exciter? The easy way to tell is from the size
of the transmit ICOM. If it is about 1/3 larger than the receiver
ICOM, then it is a FM unit, if it is the same size as the receiver
ICOM, then
Is this for an amateur or commercial band system?

Gervais,
LTR is a popular trunking format. Logical Trunked Radio Users on a LTR
system are assigned to a specific talk group(s) which are identified by the
radio as a six-digit ID.
the first digit is the are code 0 or1, the third and fourth digits are the
home repeater 01-think 21,

In Mastr II's they replaced them with PLL FM exciters on VHF and FM
exciters on UHF. Older vintages of equipment like the Mastr Pro were
before DCS deployment, so those had
They didn't - they came with FM exciters, and used DCG (Digital Call
