Anyway... this is for a 7100/80 so I'm stuck with SCSI (no nubus USB

I'm interested in the QPS CD-RW 6x4x24, external SCSI or APS CD-RW

Sorry to bother the list with this, but I need some recommendations
for a CDR or CDRW SCSI drive that works with Retrospect Express on a
mac.
I recently bought an external SCSI Yamaha CDRW 8824. It works just
fine with Retrospect Express 4.3. It also does
Just a note: I believe APS uses the Yamaha mechanism as well.

A while back, I read Yamaha had released a beta firmware update that fixed
this drive's incompatibility with Retrospect. Does anyone have an update
on
that beta's progress? Anyone having trouble after applying the beta?
So far, it's worked flawlessly on my 7600/120. I was having serious
I thought I read somewhere where you should not leave your CD in your
burner when not in use. Has anyone ever heard that?
If so, what is the reason? Since I only use it for daily backup it
would be much easier to just let the disk stay there.
Your thoughts please.

I installed the new ROM code for my Yamaha 6416 CD-RW. Retrospect
does not see the drive, though (says "Can't find any SCSI disc

Moe,
Dantz has verified that there is a bug in the firmware of the Yamaha 6416
CD-RW drive. While we have notified Yamaha of this bug, until Yamaha
releases a fix for this problem, we can no longer officially support backup
to the Yamaha 6416 CD-RW drive with Retrospect or Retrospect Express

The name and number of that mechanism would sure be a help. Hopefully
there is a master list somewhere in this big wide world.

Regarding the Yamaha 6416 CD-RW - I also have one of these. And, yes, I'm
having troubles as well. I can see that it is revision number 1.0c. The
question is: do I get a new CD-RW or is a real fix imminent?
