Instead of just restarting, try shutting down for a minute and then
restarting. This will ensure that everything is cleared out.
Regarding the tape, Retrospect is likely thinking that the error was a
result of defective media. When it asks for a new tape, it's erring on the

I posted the email below last Friday. Since then we have been
trying to chase up some alternative cables and terminators but
haven't got any yet...
However, we have been able to get Retrospect to talk to the drive and
perform a backup if we restart the computer and run Retrospect
Have you turned off Virtual Memory and checked the amount of Ram allocated
to the retrospect app?
