Reconfigure the clients from backing up the Desktop to backing up the
remembered volumes. It workswith these old warhorses - at least
configured like that!
And it seemed to have no problems with AS3 and AS6.2

PC error I had seen was caused by a screen-saver or energy saver
setting; this gave me the idea of a wake-up prod. My backup is done
via a Mac.

One thing that is significant: it does not unmount server volumes. I
have trained my users to trash them before shutdown.
