DC/DC voltage doublers have been around for a long time. Neat trick, but they eat more power than just using 2 batteries to get that voltage. The only advantage is space savings. A couple of 6 volt bicycle generators for lights will do the job nicely and are not uncommon in the third

If you are just going for a colloidal silver maker in Iraq, you do not need batteries. There is plenty of reliable sun. You just need a solar cell and a current limit circuit. The batteries will just cause more expense and they will probably be taken out for a more important purpose, like

The is an option, Leave mail on the server but that is not a nice thing to do. The Gmail option is actually on the server (you have to intentionally enable POP access), so doesn't suffer from the negatives you obviously have encountered (as have I) with the client version of 'Leave messages
