Its been a great tool, its been frustrating, its had its share of great wisdom and abject stupidity. Its time to move on, and RCG has plenty of room for the same level of intelligence, wisdom, curiosity and foolishness.

Jerry,
The pulley trick won't work for the Rahm retreiver, it is direct drive. Only way to slow it down is electronically, either with a 6 V battery or cutting the voltage of a 12 V battery.

Nice. I'll bet Paul is a lot less squirrely flying these toys than he was doing his 10K at Muncie two years ago.

Ben,
Very true, as does Barry Kennedy. Common knowledge to those that have been around soaring for any length of time. But, there are people in the hobby that are so tight that they would rather save a dollar or two than support the suppliers that support our hobby and make nice planes and

Before this becomes a major crisis, note that this is only about lithium
batteries. And it only pertains to loose batteries that are not installed in
the device they are designed for. Your laptop, cellphone, iPod, Blackberry and
other devices are just fine as long as the battery is installed (
No Tom (B), its shoving RES (HL on Steroids) down the throats of anyone that
cares to fly any/all of the other TD events. Great for Chuck, crappy for those
that don't play hyper-HL. Seems to me that RES should follow UNL in this
schedule, so the traditional multi-function events flow one after

There is one available, ready to fly in Sacramento. Please contact me offline for details.

To confirm my earlier post that lithium was probably a component of the electrolyte and not truly a controlling element of the electrochemical reaction (which determines voltage), I contacted EverReady's help line. They confirmed that the lithium in their AA batteries was part of an "organic
Is it possible that what you bought are not lithium polymer, but are lithium alkaline? The fact that lithium is present does not mean that it is the element controlling the voltage of the electrochemical reaction. It could be a simple part of a halide or hydroxide salt that is part of the e

Sorry to disagree with you George, but you're wrong. Almost all epoxy systems
consist of two parts. One is the epoxy resin, the clear, gooey, essentially
odorless component. This piece contains epoxide linkages at each end of each

I think many of you are missing the essence of Daryl's win at this year's Nats.
Yes, he was flying a borrowed Duck, and he won. Does this say anything about
the plane? No! The only thing that it proved is that it was strong enough to

I've been following the Supra repair thread with interest. While I don't have one, a building trick I have used for years may help. Instead of waxing a bolt, or using PVA, or something else that may or may not coat evenly, use a little 3 in 1 oil, or any light grade oil. It will easily coat

Sorry guys, neither Hitec or Futaba was the first. Kraft had the earliest version that I know of, in the 1979-1980 time frame. It was affectionatley termed "dial-a-crash" after the notion that a forgetful or malicious person could dial in a frequency that caused another to crash. This was i

I agree with Marc and Ed, Pulsar. Stabs look right too, they were very rectangular. I had one in the 86-87 time frame, first time I had heard of that upstart, Michael Selig and his airfoils designed for model sailplanes. I'm pretty sure of the date as I used one of his later designs, the Co
