What are everyone's thougths on rattle-can primer on bare metal of a Spit
while it is waiting for body work and final painting? I just keep getting
rust spots on the bare metal that I have already blasted and sanded a couple
of times. The humidity is killing me here.

Sounds like you had a nice day off. All my days off recently have been
spent sanding down the body on the spit to bare metal and finding more body
filler that has been put over rust. Almost done with the bonnet and then on
to the doors. I wish i was driving it around on a beautiful day like
AS far as I know, very few Mini dealers are stand alone. Most of them
combined with BMW. Soon the dealer by me will be stand alone as the owner
is splitting the two for more space. I don't see why they couldn't add
another line to it? Offer two options and then you aren't limiting yourself
Word on the street, BMW is in the workings of bringing back the Spitfire.
It will probably be more along the lines of a TR6 though.
Anyone else confirm?

I decided to tackle some of the body work on the spitfire this weekend. I
have a couple small holes in the lip of the wheel wells on the front and
rear fenders. So I started sanding down the area around the front driver's

It's just the wheels so i am not sure what tire size i would need, but they

I finally decided to suck it up and just have the body work and painting
done by someone else. I have been planning to do the body work myself in
all of my spare time. However, my spare time has been taken up with
work and fixing the house for the wife. So, one of the body shops
I am in need of an exhaust system now that i am moving into a more populated
area and the neighbors might not like me running the Spitfire with open
headers. I also want to get one because of what someone said about loud
headers covering up the sounds of any other problems with the engine.
How much does it usually take to cover an entier Spitfire? I am looking to
put a couple good coats on the car (inside and out). Not really concerned
with the underside just yet.

Well, come spring i have a lot to do to the Spitfire. Among many other
things, i need to get a carpet set, headlights an exhaust system. What
would everyones suggestions be for these three items in particular?

Are the moulded carpet sets really worth the money? Or
I seem to have the same problem with my horn. As I am testing different
parts of my electrical system right now i came across the same problem where
i can hear the relay clicking, but the horn will not work.

I started my '68 Spit Mk3 with dual Su's up ther other day and tried tuning
them. However, nothing seems to be working! I have the tool that you place
over the intake and the little ball inside goes up. When i placed it over the
front carb, the ball goes all the way to the top. When the toll

NO exhaust system (except the 4-1 headers) play a role in the rough idle i
am experiencing? Having no backpressure what-so-ever, i woudl imagine,

Well...i finally started up the Spitfire again after it's winter hibernation.
It started ok but idled a bit rough becuase i still need to fine tune the
carbs. everything else went ok that first day. The next day i starded it up
again and the problem of the Carb float bowls overflowing came back.

Remove BOTH seats. The chances of them getting damaged are too high.
Remove the glove box. It gets in the way.
Put a dropcloth, etc. over the carpet.

again. All from the rear float chamber. I checked the float and made sure
that it is working freely and not siezing or anything. HELP!!! What is
going on? It doesn't leak gas when it is running or from the other float
