I’m pretty close to 20x20 in the most remote two rooms. From there by rooms drop to 12x12 and then closet size rooms. But having the ability to get 10’ off the walls in these units saves a TON of sprinklers. John Irwin DynaFire Inc. *From:* Sprinklerforum [mailto:

That’s why I mentioned if he had a true 20x20. I couldn’t figure why you would want to do that with a 4.9k sprinkler. But I figured he had project specific reasons. I like how the 2016 edition cleared that up. I had many battles with AHJs about using the criteria in chap 8 for spray

I thought we were talking about the standard spray. But you’re correct. It does look like Reliable has the residential option to allow me to be greater than 4” from the deck. I can’t find where NFPA 13 allows a 4 residential sprinkler calculation. I was starting to think that was only in 13R.

That gives you about 25 psi of friction loss. If you can make that work you are good with residential. Why 5-6 sprinklers if going with residential pendents? Are you not permitted to do the 4 residential sprinkler calc? Travis Mack, SET MFP Design, LLC "Follow" us on Facebook:
