Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Playing cue files with LMS
There is a curious discrepancy in the use of the cue file. The start time of the trackin the cue file was not the time used in the log - there is a one sec difference. When I test with my own cue file, the times are a match. The cue file posted has the last entry as Code: TRACK 06 AUDIO TITLE "Casino" PERFORMER "Al Di Meola" INDEX 01 29:04:05 Code: [19-08-18 15:04:10.3462] Slim::Player::Song:pen (559) Tokenized command: "C:\Program Files (x86)\SQUEEZ~1\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\flac.exe" -cs --totally-silent --compression-level-0 --skip=29:04.06 --until=38:33.62 -- "C:\Musica\Al Di Meola\Al Di Meola -1978- Casino (Master Sound)\Al Di Meola - Casino.wav" | "C:\Program Files (x86)\SQUEEZ~1\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\sox.exe" -q -t flac - -t flac -C 0 - | Could there be duplicate cue files but slightly different ? bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110871 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Windows standard tools is not going to be easy to make an ext4 file system, but you can used a gparted live cd. Or we can do it in a few minutes via putty ssh session. I can do a screen capture when I get home tonight. Once you get your drives all configured you can copy your prefs, although I'm sure there will be a few things needed. The prefs location is /usr/local/slimserver/prefs This will symlink to wherever you have your cache/prefs saved, as configured on the pCP lms page. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. Yes, I'm a new LMS user, and certainly not used to work with Linux and its interface with LMS or Windows. I think I provided some hints when I downloaded the file that was sent for me to download, and I clearly specified that the cue file included didn't work on my LMS setup. This might be quite similar. What I would do. 1) resize your second partition on your pCP installation to 500mb. 2) Then add a third partition to the card. Format it to ext4 3) Point LMS to put the cache on that drive. This way if something happens to the partition table, it shouldn't affect the booting of the player. If using a Windows computer it is possible to make a Gparted usb stick and restart the computer from that, plug in the sd card (in a reader if needed) and then use the graphical interface of Gparted to create an extra partition. There are on-line guides for Gparted and it might be a good idea to practice beforehand with a spare SD card. Make a back up of your present card before doing anything. It sounds complicated, but is harder to describe than to do, if you get my drift. ronnie If you have a spare raspberry pi, you can use that, install the Raspbian Desktop OS and add Gparted. A long time ago, a customer had a problem with an application I had written - it had text highlighted in colour. Customer said all colours worked OK except yellow - I tried all sorts: different video adapters, resolution, screen interfaces etc. but couldn't reproduce the issue. Eventually had to travel to customer in Germany. Sure enough text that should be yellow was brown - the solution was to turn the monitor brightness up. I hope the solution here will be something simple as well. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110871 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Primary is the best choice as long as you only have maximum 4 partitions. Although I know I created extended partitions before doing testing with somewhere around 8 partitions. What would be the point of that? I would never use the Rasberry as a server. My server for now is my PC, but I will assemble another one, that I already have the parts of, with an Asus mobo and Intel CPU, with proper power supply for the 3.5" SATA HDDs. How do I know what security s/w this one is running and if it's affecting LMS? I could try two things: boot the PC using Linux and install LMS on it; or boot this PC with Windows 10, also installing LMS on it. The order of things I was planning, in order to make the audio manager, based on the Raspberry Pi 3B+, and the video manager, based on the Odroid C2 or a Raspberry Pi 4, was to make the audio & video managers work with Windows first, and then assemble the other PC that would be the Linux server. carlmart's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110871 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Web Interface not updating to reflect working plugins.
Thanks for the suggestion. I bit the bullet and reinstalled. I cant update the account and password either from settings or the control panel. I think that Windows Home Server 2011 is blocking communications from LMS (I can log on to mysqueezebox.com from IE on the server). I will look further tonight. paul.burden's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5541 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110872 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Playing cue files with LMS
After bpa's work on this, the process seems to be: a) flac.exe/sox.exe are used to produce a flac stream, with the start and end defined by the parameters from the cue file (and the actual end of file time) b) this flac stream is passed to the player So to my mind there are two tests that might be helpful: 1) carlmart, can you successfully play flac files via LMS? (Any flac file.) 2) If carlmart can successfully play flac files via LMS - then test to check whether the tokenized command line actually works by using it to create a flac file on the PC, rather than the output being streamed, e.g. running the following in the CMD window will create "Test.flac" in the "C:\Musica" folder. carlmart can then check whether that "Test.flac" file is playable on his PC. Code: "C:\Program Files (x86)\SQUEEZ~1\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\flac.exe" -cs --totally-silent --compression-level-0 --skip=29:04.06 --until=38:33.62 -- "C:\Musica\Al Di Meola\Al Di Meola -1978- Casino (Master Sound)\Al Di Meola - Casino.wav" | "C:\Program Files (x86)\SQUEEZ~1\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\sox.exe" -q -t flac - -t flac -C 0 "C:\Musica\Test.flac" Just my tupenny worth. Right and wrong are rather binary terms ! It does suggest that there might be some consistent issue that arises with your installation of LMS, your Cue files, and your WAV files. It may be something obvious but overlooked, or something else. If it were me, I would be looking to make an example available for any other willing users to try out on their installations. It may help narrow the issue down, and allow more detailed examination. Perhaps you could work up a modest sized 'failing' example. I don't use WAV files, Windows, and not many Cue files. So perhaps be guided by someone with more practical experience of your set up. I'd give it a go if it would help. mrw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38299 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110871 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Agree, because it worked fine on my armel based Debian system. The generated command line was identical, other than a penultimate '&', which seems not be wanted on a Windows system according to -Slim::Player::TranscodingHelper-. And I have no reason to doubt it ! For avoidance of doubt, on my debian box, track 2 of @JohnB's upload: Code: [19-08-19 13:59:57.4347] Slim::Player::Song::open (566) Tokenized command: "/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Bin/arm-linux/flac" -cs --totally-silent --compression-level-0 --skip=2:36.08 --until=7:29.28 -- "/media/Music/Wave Cue Test v2/Pr19-04 Wave Test v2.wav" | "/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Bin/arm-linux/sox" -q -t flac - -t flac -C 0 - & | And the processes running (-ps ax-): Code: 1750 ?S 0:01 /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Bin/arm-linux/flac -cs --totally-silent --compression-level-0 --skip=2:36.08 --until=7:29.28 -- /media/Music/Wave Cue Test v2/Pr19-04 Wave Test v2.wav 1751 ?S 0:02 /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Bin/arm-linux/sox -q -t flac - -t flac -C 0 - So I think I would concur with @JohnB's next step suggestion that @calmart confirms that flac files do actually play, and that the tokenized command produces the expected result when entered directly at the command line. There's nothing more that I can offer. mrw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38299 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110871 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] PiCorePlayer (LMS) Cache File Location
Hello Ive had a look through the forum and read loads of threads but Im still unsure about what is the best policy with regard to the location of the LMS cache files in PCP. Im setting up a new Pi3 or 4 (I have both but will eventually go with the 4). My music is stored on a Qnap NAS which Ive managed to mount successfully in PCP. As far as the cache files are concerned I believe I have the following options 1. Leave them in their default location somewhere on the system SD card. But I assume this breaks one of the perceived benefits of PCP in that it exists in memory and only accesses the SD on bootup. 2. Try and move the cache files to the Qnap NAS. Ive tried this and at the moment it breaks LMS which refuses to then work until I move the files back to the SD card and reboot. Im not sure this is the best solution though as, even if I can get it working, I assume there will be a performance hit with the cache having to be read across the network? 3. I utilise a smallish USB stick on the Pi3 and use it purely for the cache files? Im assuming option 3 is probably the best but involves more hardware. I have some experience with Max2Play where I think the cache files are just stored on the SD card. Is it really a big deal either way? 1. Leave them in their default location somewhere on the system SD card. But I assume this breaks one of the perceived benefits of PCP in that it exists in memory and only accesses the SD on bootup. I decided not to worry too much about this. And my system has been running somewhere between 1.5 to 2 years so far. 3. I utilise a smallish USB stick on the Pi3 and use it purely for the cache files? I'm not sure USB sticks are any more robust than SD cards. Plus you'd have to deal with moving the cache and logs etc. Get a backup SD card, copy your configuration, and live with the risk. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
