Ill take your advice next scan . I moved my prefs file between several
server installs btw and I does preserve your settings ( but remove the
server uuid/guid ? From it when moving ). Another item to clean out .

You probably removed them.

The common advice in the past has been to remove all of the Guess Tags
formats, to avoid confusion about where the metadata in shown in LMS
came from. I still think this is the best approach. Like all LMS
settings, unless you do a clean install, they'll be preserved through as
many upgrades as you'll do over the years.

Mine are also filled with the defaults suggested by JJZolx ? Is your
install brand new or upgraded trough the years ?

Hopefully it works as intended try and see what it does .

I would suggest a clear and rescan everything action after your done
setting this up .

For test I'll suggest pionting LMS to just. Small subset of the problem
files a couple of album .
Then you can quickly validate the result .

A nonstarter would be if all files are just in big pile in one directory
without neither tags or very good file names :/

I will get around to showing him how to fix the tag issues  but thought
this might deal with some problem files in the interim. My issue is that
I don't see any default patterns and want to know if this is normal in
7.9. Since some of you are giving me default settings I assume they
should be therethanks. I can use the default info now that I see how
they are set up. Why do I just have a blank box with no
examples/default?

Suggests fixing the tags anyway ?

If I remember rigth these are only used in the abscense of tags any tags
in the file ?

a use case may bee if you naively ripped to WAV with WMP and have
untagged WAV files .
Use this a stopgap solution while you convert to FLAC files ( or
possibly ALAc) and adds better metadata to them

Real tags willl give more metadata than this solution. And the use of a
format with good and widespread tag support is better.

And many tag editors have power full batch functionality you can do the
same thing as " guess tags " within seconds IF the file and folder
structure is consistent.

Looks interesting, but doesn't seem to work on my server. Could it be that
my server needs a password?

Would be nice if the script could handle this, and also get the parameters
from command line arguments. Any chance of adding the password feature at
least?

If you can not browse to the folder , the LMS user has no rights to see
the content of this folder or not even the folder itself .

Have a look at file and folder permissions for HD1

I actually implemented this as a standalone Python-script that
periodically polls the current playing track/stream for all players and
if two players are playing the same media, without already being
synchronized, it will set them to synchronized. It works well, but I
hoped there would be something similar already existing as a plugin
(unfortunately I don't know Perl very well).

I don't think you can as by definition there would be 2 separate streams
in play i.e. although they are the "same" they are actually different
unless you are proxying via the server which is what happens when you
sync two or more players.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I am aware of the possibility to
permanently synchronize two players, but the idea is that the
synchronization should happen automatically for two (or more) previously
un-synchronized players when the same stream are playing on both. I
still want them to be un-synchronized by default (since I want to be
able to play different music/streams in different rooms by default).

You should be able to permanently sync the 2 players via the LMS
interface and then you would do
1) Wake up in bedroom
2) Press preset button to start streaming news radio channel.
3) Enter bathroom
4) Press play

Hello, one feature I miss with the squeezeboxes/squeezeserver is the
ability to automatically sync two players when they are set to the same
media track or remote stream. 

Scenario:
1) Wake up in bedroom
2) Press preset button to start streaming news radio channel.
3) Enter bathroom
4) Press preset button to start streaming news radio channel (same as in
bedroom)
5) (here the desired behaviour would be to automatically have the two
players (Squeezebox Radio) synced to avoid the very annoying time
difference between the played streams.

Would this be hard to implement? Is there any plugin with this
functionality already available?

Further reporting on the QTS4.3 issues with Logitech Media Server.

While searching for various cures, I have also upgraded to 7.9.1 via
SSOTS.  As suggested by Michael, it does not affect the issues raised
earlier.  After further testing of various functionalities, my
experience is as follows:

1.  Playback on the Squeezelite is fine after manually copying a few
files, based on post #8 here:

tried a number of formats and all seem fine.

2.  I cannot get the Squeezelite to work as a DLNA renderer.  Server log
would show an error which typically looks like this:  0007: [17-04-30
14:10:26.2596] Slim::Player::Song:pen (409) Error: Couldn't create
command line for flc playback for
[upnp://xxx.xxx.x.xxx:9001/music/670350/download.flc]  LMS as a DLNA
server appears fine under DLNA controller to server to renderer setup.

3.  I also cannot get the DLNA/UPNP bridge plugin to work.  It worked
momentarily initially but broke down soon.

After some googling, it seems that all the issues should be SSOTS
related, but it's beyond me as to how it can be fixed.  If your QNAP
supports Docker virtualization (mine doesn't), you can get around it.  


I'm further posting my findings to hopefully find some hero who can tell
me that there is some quick fix to it, and to hopefully help other QNAP
users to at least get their LMS ecosystem back to playing music.
