Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Can someone confirm the LMS that came with piCoreplayer can display unicode chars
I think you're specifically talking about Unicode display on the Classic/Transporter/Boom? Unfortunately no recent Perl version I'm aware of has support for this. Just saw that piCorePlayer has a "perl_font_freetype.tcz" extension. That should be what you need. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Can someone confirm the LMS that came with piCoreplayer can display unicode chars
I am deciding to switch to the LMS that comes with the picoreplayer and rpi. I am currently using the readynas. The version with readynas does not display unicode chars like Chinese. I think you're specifically talking about Unicode display on the Classic/Transporter/Boom? Unfortunately no recent Perl version I'm aware of has support for this. I believe at some point it became too painful to compile that module (Font::FreeType). The last Perl version I see we have it for is Perl 5.16 - which is pretty old. That said I see that the version we used to use is from 2004 - but there are more recent versions from 2018. Maybe it would be possible to compile the latest for recent Perl versions... -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] !!!!!!! (from Billie Eilish album)
Whether or not it's the length of the track/file that's causing the genre tag issue is interesting. I have an mp3 copy of -There's a Riot Going On- by Sly and the Family Stone. The title track is zero length, but is actually reported as 4 seconds on LMS. It it tagged with a genre, which seems to be picked up by LMS. The details of this file are: File Format: MP3 Duration: 0:04 Bitrate: 33kbps VBR (the album is 256k VBR) Sample Rate: 44.1 kHz File Length: 257,153 Robert *Home: *Raspberry Pi 3/piCoreplayer/LMS7.9.2 with files on QNAP TS-251A Touch > DacMagic 100 > Naim Audio Nait 3 > Mission 752 (plus Rega Planar 3 > Rega Fono Mini; Naim CD3) 2 x Squeezebox Radios, 1 X Squeezebox 3 (retired), spare Pi2/piCorePlayer *Office:* LMS7.9.2 running on WiFi MyPassport drive > Raspberry Pi 3 with touchscreen/piCorePlayer/IQaudIO DAC and Amp SqueezePad, iPeng as controllers last.fm/user/GrumpyBob Grumpy Bob's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41857 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111670 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

I've been using a Raspberry Pi model 3 as a server for some time now. In my case I have the music library on a NAS, and both the NAS and the PI are wired to the router. The Pi is running piCorePlayer - setup is quite easy and there are threads in the Linux/Unix forum here. See also http://www.picoreplayer.org/ I've found that keeping LMS and its plugins updated is very easy (easier than when I ran LMS on the NAS). My Pi-based LMS server is just a Pi model 3 in a cheap plastic case that sits on top of the NAS. I have never used a Pi4, but I've read concerns about its running temperature so you may need to investigate different cases from that perspective. Further to the above, I've now updated LMS to 7.9.3, but with the same result. I've also confirmed it'a doing the same on Spotify, albeit not at 30 seconds in, more at random. The SBT didn't show an update available, just LMS. Really annoying, so any ideas very welcome. I can play the track using LMS. But if I drill down through genre - which is almost always what I do - and play the album that way, the first track (13 seconds of nonsense) would be omitted.
