So it turns out to be a known problem with ASUS XT8 routers.
Reverting the firmware from Version 3.0.0.4.386.45934 to Version
3.0.0.4.386.42095 on all 4 mesh routers immediatly fixed both
squeezeboxes.
A few hours later one had reverted but a reboot fixed that and its been
12 hours now.

If it's a new/different Router/Wireless Access point then check their
settings...
I use Draytek stuff and it allows wireless clients to be isolated from
wired clients (Isolate LAN) and same SSID wireless clients to be
isolated from each other (Isolate Member).
I use these setting for my Guest

WIFI6 has lots of new
It seems like Squeezebox issues with Zen Wifi is common place and
normal, and many people have these issues. Looking now to see if there
are any solutions.
I always thought that WiFi6 was all about 5G which squeezebox is not
concerned with.
Some WiFi6 implementations are known to cause problems with the very old
firmware/drivers in SB boxes.
Search here for WiFi6 for things that others have tried tried to do to
make make them work together.
Broadly ... disable some WiFi6 features until it works but does not
break your whole house

Also, now that yo9u have seen that the SB player can work (on wired)
then the next thing to look at is the WiFi access point and the
networking in more general.
For example:
Is it a WiFi6 access point?
Do you have more than one access point?
Is the access point the same device that you used to
Did you select "Save logging settings for use at next application
restart" on the logging screen.
Anyway ... as I said earlier, the change is dynamically applied so no
need to restart LMS.

Whatever I do with the log settings though they are not persistent and
in fact do not seem to take effect.

Have you checked the firewall. While IP addresses are OK - it is

The LMS is running on on 192.168.1.7 (aka cinema) (static ip)
web interface accessed on 192.168.1.5, (static ip)
Squeezebox on 192.168.1.236 and 192.168.1.130 both assigned ip addresses
by dhcp, but always seem the same
What IP addresses would the player and server be using?

Hmm, tried that.
Set the log levels then stopped and restarted server.
Then tried again to connect the SB to the server. Its the same as
before, as expected.
The only entries in the log file as a result of the server restart are:

Triple check the IP address used on the SB to connect to LMS ...
If it is really correct then maybe (unlikely though) you will see

Hi Paul,
Yes I did that in the device setup and the following screen is
Connecting to server, which stays up for about 30 seconds, and then the
message "Can't connect to server...". That message also stays up for
about 30 seconds and then the device screen goes black and stays black
until you
In that case, try going through the menus on the SB device and ask it to
make an explicit connection to your LMS server.
Once you find the correct menu item ... it will prompt for the IP
address of the server that you want to connect to.

When you accessed port 9000 for the web interface, was that on a
different machine to the LMS server?
If not ... then try via numeric IP address because if that fails then it
does imply a firewall on the LMS box is causing problems.

I've been using Squeezeboxes for a while. Now after moving house, with
stuff still in storage, I brought 2 2nd hand Squeezebox 2's and both are
able to connect to the network, get an ip address (which I am able to
ping) but then say cannot connect to server, left to go back, right to
try again.
Make sure LMS and players are on the same network by actually checking
the IP of each device.

I had a power shutdown at my house. Usually I just have to restart the
sb devices, and it's all set to go. Now the devices won't connect. I
have no idea what to do. I have tried to restart computer, devices,
router, server. The diagnosis of LMA says all ok, but no connected
players. I have
Ok, I figured it out.
I decided to uninstall and install again and noticed that I couldn't
find the folder. It turned out that Comodo in all its wisdom decided to
install everything in its VTroot folder, a hidden folder for what ever
reason and that prevented anything from accessing it.
Try holding yje BACK (left) arrow on the SB3 remote, enter Setup, scroll
down through entire screens a couple times, see if new server appears.
You might see two servers listed, old and new. Arrow RIGHT to select
new server when displayed.

The server is up and running as admin. The router has given the SB the
right IP and it is looking for the server on the right IP. I have
