Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS Scan Missed a Song
Interesting - Not to hijack this thread, but I recently discovered that I'm having similar issues. I had some friends over and they started looking at my collection and couldn't believe I didn't have certain albums. Knowing I did, I started looking into things. I originally ripped all music to .WAV files using dbPowerAmp. A few months ago I converted them to FLAC files using the dbPowerAmp converter. My first thought was folder security, but that didn't make sense and didn't solve the problem. I also have experienced the issue of a track within an album not showing up. I don't remember if it shows using the 'Music Folder' option. Anybody experiencing this issue that ISN'T using dbPowerAmp. I'll do some looking in their forum and post about the issue also. Frankly this is a little disheartening...I can't trust all my music is 'in' LMS now... As a side note to Michael Herger if you read this - Is it possible (and reasonably simple) for you to add some kind of 'audit' number to scanner output so that, if say a file exists but the scanner can't open the file to read the tags (corrupt file) it would be more noticeable that there was an issue (i.e. -file list count- versus -scanned file list count-). I'm sure many people are not going to go digging into there scanner log every time they add new music. i.e. 'scanned 34,234 tracks (34,852 files found - check scanner log!) We would then know to look deeper into the issue... Obviously, the 'files found' are the types that are configured to be scanned - not just any file type... *Player: *1 x Transporter w/Trans-knob, 2 x Touch (Active, 3 x Spares), 4 x Boom (Active, 9 x Spares) *Server: *1 x Win Server (ESXi 6.x) w/LMS, 1 x HP 24" Touch Screen PC w/LMS & SqueezePlay *Control: *4 x w/iPeng, 1 x Samsung Note 4, 3ea x Fire 7", 8 tablets, 1 x 10" all w/SqueezeCtrl & Player (Angry Goat) *Audio: *Mark Levinson 23.5 Amp, 380s Pre, 390s CD, B 801 II, Acoustic Energy AE-2 signature, SOTA Sapphire table Computer geek/tech hoarder(!), and DAMN I love the LMS/Squeeze infrastructure! markm's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=65015 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109589 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Maybe it happens when it's not one character but a "compound" of two characters? What I mean is, you can use the character á, but you can also "build" it with an a and an accent, like this: á U+00E1 : LATIN SMALL LETTER A WITH ACUTE U+0430 : CYRILLIC SMALL LETTER A U+0301 : COMBINING ACUTE ACCENT {stress mark; Greek oxia, tonos} I've seen this with the letter ö quite often in news outlets like dpa. Depending on the font used, the dots may not end up on top of the o. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS Scan Missed a Song
I have had similar issues on extremely rare occasions over the years. In all cases, it has generally been because of a special character, especially when they are in the folder name. But, they can also occur if the special characters are in the tags, and in LMS there are settings about how to handle coding because of the occasional glitches that can occur. I've never been able to make out when this will occur as I think it can just be a matter of how people input metadata and how it translates. I use dBPowerAmp as the original user, but the software is usually just pulling data in from some online database (as will most tagging software). In my cases, once it occurred in tags for songs by Björk, and where the ö was the culprit (most recent album). Never had the problem before. Similar issue has occurred on occasion with songs with accents or with dashes, etc that did not fall into a standard character set. emalvick's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35382 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109589 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS Scan Missed a Song
I had similar problems with LMS 7.9.2 plus WINDOWS 10 (64Bit) (NTFS) I have some Folders like: d:\Klassik\XMass d:\Klassik\Pop If I use the Windows LMS Tray Program and go to Folders to Scan, I see all Folders! If I use the Web frontend and want to add Folders, I see only d:\Klassik\Pop So I tried a lot of full rescans, nothing really helped. If I add d:\Klassik\XMass via the LMS Tray Program, it works halfway, but the CustomScan afterwards does not see those files WHAT WORKED FOR ME: . Rename the not shown Folder to d:\Klassik\XMass_OLD . Create a new Folder with the old name (d:\Klassik\XMass) . Copy (NOT MOVE !!) all Files from the renamed folder to the new one . Delete the renamed folder And voila, suddenly even in the Web interface, the new "old" Folder XMass shows up. No restart of LMS is required. I did not change any names of any music. I had this Problem with 5 different folders. I never had this problem before on LINUX, WINDOWS XP or WINDOWS 7 (64Bit) Greetings *Controllers Hardware:* 1XTouch,2XRadio,1XBoom,1XSB3,piCorePlayer *Controllers Software:* squeezelite, Squeeze Player *Steuerung:* 'Squeeze Comander' (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.cedata.android.squeezecommander=de) *Plugins:* 'Dynamic Mix' (http://penguinlovesmusic.de/wp-content/uploads/beta/pmplugins/DynamicMixPlugin.htm); 'Custom Browse' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Custom_Browse), TrackStat; Custom Scan; 'MusicInfoSCR' (http://www.herger.net/slim-plugins/detail.php@nr=446=slim-plugins); 'LazySearch 2' (http://www.hickinbottom.com/lazysearch).. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS Scan Missed a Song
I investigated a bit more and noticed that LMS was using a short file name (the so-called 8.3 name) for the track instead of the long name shown in Windows Explorer. I checked the tracks in my library.db and found that there are a few more where the original file or folder names have some "special" characters in it. Note that I have many albums especially from Northern Europe with lots of foreign characters that don't lead to 8.3 names. There are relatively few artist or track names that lead to this, like Leszek Moder (a Polish jazz pianist). Anyway, I assume this behavior is caused by Perl. So if the file is not added to the library in the OP's case, maybe Windows is configured to not create the 8.3 names at all? This can be checked with the command Code: fsutil 8dot3name query (see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows-commands/fsutil-8dot3name) reinholdk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36070 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109589 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

My LMS on Win10 uses the same Perl, AudioScan and SQlite versions as yours but I have LMS 7.9.2. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS Scan Missed a Song
What you don't see in the forum, I see on the mailing list: That dash after the "C" must be special: > show up browsing by folder. The file name created by DBPoweramp is "16 > Hunt You Down-Naked-CLink.mp3". I renamed the song to "16 Hunt > You Down - Naked C Link.mp3" and LMS picked it up just fine. There It's not the number of dashes, but some special character. Are you storing the file on the same system as where LMS is running? What file system type? -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS Scan Missed a Song
Just bought and ripped "Egypt Station" using DBPoweramp 15.3. I run LMS 7.9.1 official on both Windows 10 Pro and on Windows Home Server 2011. The file name for song 16 created by DBPoweramp is not recognized in either a full scan or scan for new and changed. The song also didn't show up browsing by folder. The file name created by DBPoweramp is "16 Hunt You Down-Naked-CLink.mp3". I renamed the song to "16 Hunt You Down - Naked C Link.mp3" and LMS picked it up just fine. There must be some type error is processing the file name with all those dashes. Windows has no trouble with the file name created by DBPoweramp.
