Cheers, Gary - thanks for your help.
I guess it dawned on me later that, although (through my television/PS3
player), I would click on "Logitech Media Server" to access the video
folders on the NAS, that it didn't necessarily mean that LMS was serving
up the videos, just providing me access to

Hello all.
Apologies - these are probably dumb questions, but it's been a long time
since I set up my system and I've forgotten most of what I knew back
then.
1. I am/was running Logitech Media Server on a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo v2.
I use it to serve up flac music files and also ripped my entire
I just like to update that I have been able to get LMS on Pi and all is
working well.
Thanks to all of you!

Absolutely that's what I use it for, I did use dnsmasq but found it was
slow with queries.
PiHole on decent hardware is much quicker than dnsmasq IMHO
I use it as DHCP and DNS, you can use

I attempted to do piHole on pCP, there is just too much to integrate.
Before I wasted my time with it, I setup a rpi4 with a standard
Raspbian/phole installation.
Pihole will act as your DNS for your local network. Basically, you
point all of your devices to use pihole as your networks

Have you seen my links in 'post 16'
hi notechyet,
For obvious reasons, I know next to nothing about the other
distributions.
I have always assumed, if it is not piCorePlayer, then it is probably
based on Raspbian.

I really don't think you need a fan with that case, it's allegedly a
little better at passive cooling than the flirc

Thanks!
I read somewhere about the noisy fan so I thought to get the above
mentioned fan instead? I will ask the shop about

Thanks a million!
I'm just amazed about your very good suggestions/comments. It'll be
heaps for me to think about.
For easiness of purchase(Oz) and future proofing I am seriously thinking
about the 'Argon'

For a pi4 I would recommend an aluminium FLIRC case as it's passively
cooled and keeps temperatures to manageable levels. I tested mine with
100% CPU and GPU load, I think it topped out at ca. 60c, it runs at a
steady 40c (ish) while hosting LMS and serving basic NAS duty (4 drive

our to be bought RBP? setup with the LMS will be on our Ethernet as
well. To future proof the setup I am thinking to buy 'this'
With a passive heat-sink type aluminium case rpi4 runs just fine with
piCore/LMS (no Squeezelite).
Even when upsamling with C-3PO to 24/192 it's about 50°C in room
temperature 20-22°C.
I have not tested with LMS & Squeezelite.

Hi All
I have just managed to setup my old SB classic again with the LMS on a
laptop. All is working well incl. Spotify.
During my LMS setup searches I have read here and there a bit regarding
setting up a LMS on Raspberry. For a long time I have been thinking to
get a Raspberry Pi for Pi-Hole.
