I have noticed with Sea Monkey 2.06 that some of the web pages I go to
seem to be scrunched up and the only way I can get to see it all is to
reduce the size of the fonts. I assume that is because the sites are
not properly designed. Is this true or have I missed something in the
set up.

First, the reason this is happening is that the html message format
image links reference local files on your computer

I had noted that the majority of web sites were OK and I made the
assumption with no technical assistance other than what I read here
on the ng's that it was probably errors on the individual web pages.
I went through a number of them and the ones I had the problems with
seemed to have
