I would probably install 2.10 and then 2.35 also. This section of

If no email I would start with a fresh profile and import the
bookmarks only.

In any case backup the profile as suggested.

IIRC, there was a point at which the mailbox format changed, so
restoring mail in the old format to a later version expecting the new
format might cause problems. Back then, we were advised to back up
(always a good idea) and then install the new version over the old one,
which incorporated a conversion step.

Confirm/correct?

Re: E MAIL CRASHES ON 2.48

2017-10-02 Thread Frank-Rainer Grahl
Source code is now fixed and we will upgrade the base to ESR 52.4 level.
Building should continue soon.

I am not seeing the spinning wheel for long on a late 2012 mini mac with an
imap account. Maybe its time to compact and/or rebuild the folders.

The Thunderbird devs fixed another bunch of annoyances in the shared code so
hopefully any account problems will go away over time.

Hi,

great :-) no more crashes when opening the Mail.

There are only 2 little annoying things:
1) When I open the Mail window for the first time, it takes a lot to ask for
the accounts password (the spinning wheel stays for 30+ seconds);
2) sometimes it says I entered a wrong password (for all the acounts) while it
didn't even contact the mail server.

But these are issues already present in SM since 2.40 as far as I can remember.

Anyway, SM 2.49.1 is working on El Capitan, thank you!

the computer. Disk is at 6%, CPU is at 19%. But Seamonkey is grayed out

I don't know what happened, but it eventually came back up. But one
particular group which is one of the largest I am subscribed to was wiped
out. Now I only have 15 new messages and one from 2015.

I had to unsubscribe and resubscribe. Of course all the conversations are
marked as unread with no indication of what I've actually read. Too bad
there isn't a way to get the group to download everything again without
trashing the entire group info.

I know you need at least one interm install, I think it is 2.0.
Unless  you get a more sure answer my advise would be

1) Download and install MozzBack up. Back up with it first so you can go
back to before an issue if one shows up.
2) Download Seamonkey 2.0 and update to that.
3) download the latest version and update to that.

What version of Seamonkey? Have you tried Sage Mode (hold down Shift and
launch Seamonkey)?

I thought that was a youtube cookie type thing! As I recall, you go to a

somewhere there you click an O.K./Install type button which does
whatever is needed *and* sends you a cookie type thing.

If you have your cookies file set to "Read Only" or "Session Cookies
