Is there a support question in there, or are you joining me for a little
Gouda on crackers with a Pinot Grigio and dicuss Verizon.?

As pointed out to me in my ISP (Verizon) whine.

a news group was created so we can discuss Verizon issues...
alt.online-service.verizon

Would you like to suggest a NG Server that provides access to that site?
Preferably a free service... I just discovered, by trial and error,
that Cincinnati Bell has dropped their NG server support. So much for
their Price for Life guarantee. They've just reduced the service at
the same 'guaranteed' price. Bah! Humbug!

TIA,
Carl

Re: Seamonkey Freeze with Acrobat

I have read many threads about Seamonkey Freezing.
For me the only place I have seen this is since I moved from Acrobat
Reader 9 to Acrobat 10. I always saw it as an Acrobat problem and
thought the Acrobat Plugin was crashing Seamonkey when I print or save
files from the plug in.

I now realize Seamonkey did not crash, just locked up for 30 seconds to
a couple of minutes. So now I am wondering if this is part of the lock
up issues others are talking about? Do others see this Acrobat issue?
And is there any known fix? I don't know is this is Acrobat or Seamonkey.

I live off of Acrobat and so this bug is really annoying.

While I am at it (I know this is not a Seamonkey question) I also notice
that the Acrobat plug in has two UIs. One is stripped down and clean
the other is more traditional and full featured. I don't like the clean
one (the one that normally comes up) but the full featured one only
sometimes comes up. Any idea how to force it one way or the other?

Hawker,

Try this suggestion to eliminate the source of your problem.

Using SM download the pdf file to your desktop.
Close SM and double click the pdf file to open the file with the Adobe
Reader X.
With Adobe Reader rendering the file print the file.

Check the timing of the download in SM.
Check the time it takes for Adobe Reader X to render the file.
Check the time it takes to print the file.

Compare the timing using SM plugin to perform the similar tasks.

If SM takes a long time to download the file check the file size of the
downloaded file, it may be several Mb in size.

Making comparisons between the two operations may help you to determine
the cause of your pdf problems.

To respond to both this and the original post:
1) My SM does crash. About 90% of the time I click on a PDF link.
Sometimes, it is when I am not even expecting a PDF, but get the crash.
2) Since I cannot even get to the link for the PDF, downloading is not
an option.
3) Often, the PDF is not exposed [see unexpected PDF above] but SM
crashes when the hidden reference to the PDF is found.

This problem did not exist prior to SM 2.3 [which replaced 1.1.18 on my
system]

Re: Missing SPECIFIC maps on FedEx.com's Web site?

2009-08-17 Thread Carl Gehr

webmas...@...
is the normal place that Web site complaints go. Somehow, you must have
gotten to the shipping people who always claim ignorance of any IT
issue. It is true that the 'Express' shipping and the 'Ground' shipping
are almost like separate companies. They don't even share the same
pickup boxes, locations, etc. I discovered this when I dropped a
'ground' box into an 'express' drop box because there was no indication
on the box of the distinction. [There were two 'Express' drop locations
within less than a mile of where I was at the time; the closes 'Ground'
location about TEN+ miles away. I now use UPS when I'm in that
location, even though I get a discount on my account from FedEx.]

The package was LOST for almost TWO WEEKS because the two groups would
not even talk with each other. My phone call to the CORPORATE OFFICE
finally got some attention. Persistence does pay, but sometimes it is
painful! :-(

I did, but only got an automated reply. :(

Yeh, well, I've also tried calling. But, it's almost worse than
calling M$ for support. At least it makes me feel better.

IF, by some chance, the automated response has a 'ticket number' or
similar, wait a reasonable amount of time and send it back. [Even if
you need to cut/paste the message into their Web site.]

I don't recall seeing one. Still no human reply yet. :(

I wonder if the site's Bing map works correctly in SeaMonkey v2
prereleases.

I just got one, but only an acknowledgement (note webmas...@fedex.com

Thank you in advance. :)

On my SeaMonkey 1.1.17, it's flakey, for lack of a better term. I
was able to use the little - sign on the left side of the map to
zoom out and then use the hand that appears as the cursor on the map
and left mouse click to zoom and then it almost worked. It doesn't
show the pickup points, like it says it will. It says on the left
bottom, M$ so...

Yeah, it is not showing specific map areas. :

The problem is M$ Bing sucks. FedEx shouldn't have gone with it. To
see how it should be done, go to google maps and type in 'FedEx (your
zipcode)'in the Search Maps area. Voila!

Thanks.
