Thanks, Robert; I hope the option to use JS in Mail/News SM-2.0a2/3 will
be put back very soon so users can decide for themselves.

Hi Nanny,
The issue will be resolved here:

Hi Joe, thanks: Mozilla info, be it technical- or Mozilla
management-wise is scattered all over the place. More about that another
time.

Most of the Dev's have absolutely no idea about the "multimedia"
community, and what they are about.

I have made it my business to try to inform them about it.

Please, do go on with your multimedia-info-action;-)

I don't put the blame on certain devs: too easy.

Do you remember how long it took to get the marquee tag enabled by
default in Gecko browsers ?

And an even longer time to get it fully enabled in Mailnews.

H, I remember an awful lot;-)

Have a great Christmas season Nanny, hope to see you soon in a MM
friendly newsgroup, with a capable Mailnews client.

Over and over again I read that Mitchel Baker and paid co-workers are
very, very eager to collect as much using (and not user-) data as possible.
With Tb and SM "belonging" to Mozilla, MTMM *is* the right News-Group
to try out MultiMedia in Mail/News. I really wouldn't know how to do so
in ChatZilla or one of the forums.

In the meantime to all: enjoy your holidays!

Nanny

P.S. would be nice to see a MM holiday mail from you in MTMM;-)

You're probably misunderstanding me there, I for myself would not be
opposed to making scripts and plugins completely unavailable from email,
or even killing HTML mail at all.

Virtually every email I receive is HTML. Doing away with HTML mail would
be putting SM users totally out of touch with the real world.

Oh, I didn't say I want to remove HTMl mail support from SeaMonkey. I
said I wouldn't oppose killing HTML mail, meaning completely, in the
whole world.

LOL. Ok then!

As that's not happening, and we all know that, I'm very glad I can use
"View > Message Body As > Plain Text" in SeaMonkey and can read hundreds
of mails, newsgroup posts and feed entries with my own consistent font
settings so that my eyes don't start to hurt :)

opinion, this is about what will be implemented.
I still think we should remove the UI for enabling scripts and plugins
in mailnews, as the security risks are higher then the merit, and those
who need it can find it in about:config.

I still personally think that was a large mistake, but then, it was
done, so whatever.

What am I missing here? Edit - Preferences - Advanced - Scripts &

If there's a checkbox in UI, that doesn't mean that it actually works.

wonder why the SM browser has JS and cookies enabled by default: HTLM,
JS, Flash, Ajax and the likes work perfectly well in the browser as is.

Turning JS on/off in Mail/News is done in a jiffy.
Turning JS on/off in browsers, not only SM, is just the beginning of a
lot more (not so obvious) to do, to make the browsers more secure.
