Has anyone noticed that when you use logfile rotation the dates in the filename
are wrong?
i.e., Todays logfile is named freenet.log-2003-11-03-00
That is clearly a month behind. It has been happening since I turned on logfile
rotation back on 29th
The linux Blackdown jdk1.4.1 was the key. Neither IBM nor Sun versions
would work. At the beginning when it was asking me questions for the
freenet.conf file, I kept getting a message that mmap2 is not

Hi Toad,
the following problem (which I reported earlier) continues to persist in the
latest stable build. Any ideas on what might go wrong here and how to fix it
would be appreciated.
Attempting to start up freenet yields the following errors in the logfile:
Do you have a firewall
run-freenet and the accompanying initd script are intended to keep a
freenet node up and running unsupervised, the kind of thing you often do
by regularly restarting the node with cron.
However, restarting a node with cron has known disadvantages: the server
may lay there dead for many hours
Normal users, pregnant women, and anyone under 4 foot tall should ride
stable. Please keep your hands and arms inside at all times.
To play devil's advocate... why? Freenet is far from being usable (and
useful) for Joe Average, anyway, so everyone using it just might help out
with development
Try running freenet and get this error... Kaffe seems to run well enough
to get the version info:

Hello,
Brand new to freenet. Just tried to run it the first time this
afternoon, with little success.
The setup: one Linux box on the outside, with Shorewall (iptables),
local Windows box with Sygate. Shorewall to protect from inbound, Sygate
to protect from outbound basically, in case you're
This is fixed in 6369 (in CVS, snapshots will be updated soon), and will
also be fixed in the next stable build.

To completely remove a Debian package, do:
- dpkg -P package name
The -P is for Purge. This should work provided the Debian scripts were
setup properly.

freenet-webinstall.exe, or get the jar from

Apologies for two stable builds in such a short period, but we always
put out a new build ASAP if we find a vulerability.
