course at University of Surrey, to talk about ambisonics and surround, and
the sound field mic (which we had at the department ‹ it was my favourite

I asked about upgrading my 350, or rather asked about if it was worth
upgrading either the mic or the box, depending on which was the more
critical. But I got nowhere ‹ they seemed to think I wanted to trade in
part of the mic, which wasn¹t the case at all. Ah well.

As an aside, its a point of particular annoyance that there is no test tone
generator on the ST350 or ST450 control units to allow for proper level setting
in a DAW, and thus to compensate for wobbly inputs on the recorder.

We’ve just put a topline atmos system into our IEC listening room – amp/decoder
thing from Pioneer, and their 5.1.4 speaker arrangement (with four upward
firing speakers built into the top of the four main speakers).
It works well, and is interesting especially on 4k HDR UHD bluray discs.
So
Interesting – much cheaper than the alternative.

I have st350 and rode. My sound field experience goes back to the original
black frame box
St350’is a good mix and has excellent flexibility for recording b format and a
stereo mix. And has a decent headphone drive from the stereo mix
The ride is quieter sweeter and a nicer. But it’s a
