transport axing the London freedom pass!!!

Hello all,

The department for transport, in their infinite wisdom, have decided that
they need to cut £2900 of boroughs' agreed funding, and a good way for
them to save money, as usual, is to take away from the disabled - by
threatening to axe the freedom pass.

Please click on the link below to sign the Petition to intervene to secure
the Freedom Pass by protecting the previously agreed level of concessionary
travel funding for London, for 2010-11, from the proposals currently being
consulted on by the Department for Transport that would cut £29 million of
agreed funding for the boroughs, following the DfT's re-opening of a 3-year
funding deal in its third year.

Thank you in advance for your support.

I tried it, I liked it, you will too!!

The older we get the more important it is to incorporate exercise
into our daily routine. This is necessary to maintain cardiovascular

and maintain muscle mass.

If you're over 50, you might want to take it easy at first, then do
more repetitions as you become more proficient and build stamina. Warning:
It may be too strenuous for some.

Always consult your doctor before starting any exercise program!

SCROLL DOWN.

The message that i am replying to is a good example of the sort of things

apserlutely nothing to a wide majority of the population of the world. For
some strange reason, the readers of this list, myself included, enjoy
reading such drivel.

I used to have one of those. My schedule was very screwed up at the time,
since I was working part-time during the day and taking night classes.

It went something like this:

Wake up at 5:00 PM,
Go to class at 6 (takes 30/45 minutes to get from here to the campus),
get home around Midnight,
hang around for a while,
go to work at 9:00 AM,
come home at 2:30 PM,
sleep for two hours,
do it all over again.

And, at this point, I'd still do it. Don't call us, we'll call you has
been the constant theme for me over the last six years. I'm thinking of
going back to school somewhere, which I thought I'd never say at any point
during my life, given the opportunity.

By the way, SHOUTCast is evil. ICECast is fun.

NINE WORDS WOMEN USE

(1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are
right and you need to shut up.

(2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour.
Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes
to watch the game before helping around the house.

(3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something,
and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end
in fine.

(4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

(5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement
often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and
wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about
nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)

(6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women
can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before
deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

(7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just
say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she
says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all.
DO NOT say 'you're welcome' . that will bring on a 'whatever').

(8) Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying F-- YOU!

(9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement,
meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but
is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?'
For the woman's response refer to # 3.

* Send this to the men you know, to warn them about arguments they can
avoid if they remember the terminology.

* Send this to all the women you know to give them a good laugh, cause
they know it's true!!!

The Talk2 List Serenity prayer for work

2009-03-30 Thread matthew cooper
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, The courage to
change the things I cannot accept, And the wisdom to hide the evidence that I
have been using company property for personal purposes, including circulating
my resume, searching for more rewarding and satisfying work.

And also, help me to be careful of the toes I step on today as they maybe
connected to the butt that I may have to kiss tomorrow.

Help me to always give 100% at work
12% on Monday,
23% on Tuesday,
40% on Wednesday,
20% on Thursday,
5% on Fridays.

And help me to remember. When I'm having a really bad day, and it seems
that people are working on my last Good Nerve, that it takes 42 muscles to
frown and only 4 to extend my middle finger and tell them to bite me.

Personally, I think you can take your potatoes, put them in an orange
plastic box marked Deliver only to the leopard, and be done with them.
As for the drive, well oopsy. Oopsy, and ooopsy. No more Seagate externals
for you. My internal, on the other hand, is ticking along quite nicely
considering it's been dropped, moved, shipped here and there, taken out
and put back into the caddie a few times.

The only advice I have to offer, is

Due to a dying netgear router, I can't reliably connect to anything.
Once connected, things are nice, but getting there is the problem.
Given that loads of reliable connections need to be made quickly for the show
to at least have a chance of flowing properly, and such stability is a thing of
the past, I will be doing good to even be able to listen.

Re: The Talk2 List FX Radio is back... with an attitude!

erm, yeah, falling asleep is a bad idea when you listen to that. It doesn't
just influence your dreams, it may as well create them! lol

[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

it's back, with an all-new machine, more sound effects (including

You may be asking yourself What, exactly, is FX Radio, and why would
I want to listen?
To answer your questions, it's a rather strange concept that Derek
and I came up with in the summer of 2005, when we were both rather
bored.
Basically, it's the result of what happens when you load three
instances of winamp equipped with crossfaders, then load a crap load
of high quality sound effects libraries into each winamp, making
sure, of course, that everything is perfectly randomized.
The sequence of events that can happen as a result of this are rather
strange, and many interesting things can happen to
your mind as a result of listening to the odd combinations of things
that occur.

Have you ever seen a bird driving a car under water, all the while
being chased by a telephone? Or, perhaps, little kids
playing in underwater construction sites? How about babies with power
tools, dogs driving trains, tanks plowing through restaurants, sheep
making things blow up just for the fun of it, or what's currently
playing, which happens to be a mocking bird with a machine gun
shooting at a helicopter? All these things can and have been known to
happen on FX Radio, all sound effects, all the time, 24 hours a day!

To tune in, you will need a streaming media player compatible with
AAC+ streaming, such as Winamp (5.1 or higher, except 5.22 which has
a bug that breaks AAC streams), VLC Mediaplayer, or Foobar 2000 0.9
or higher.

If you have a compatible player, put in one of the following
addresses:
shoutcast:
http://fx.pdaudio.net:80
icecast (less delay, may buffer more depending on your situation):
http://tbrn.net:/fx.aac

Note: If you are using the Thompson mp3 pro decoder for Winamp, the
shoutcast stream will not work unless it is disabled. Really, if
you're still using it, you're bad, since that format has been
officially scrapped by it's developers!
The icecast feed will work, even with the Thompson mp3 decoder,
however,
since the .aac extension will not be passed off to the mp3 pro
decoder.

Also, since the shoutcast server is on port 80, this means you can
listen to FX Radio behind any proxy server that only
allows access to http, such as universities and other institutions.
Yes, a nice distraction during class might be good,
don't you think?
Why not freak out your friends, classmates or co-workers while you're
at it? Maybe all of the above, or something worse?

Close your eyes, put on some headphones, tune in, and get ready for a
very strange, and altogether different experience!

Note: PD Audio Productions is not responsible for any permanent
psychological or neurological damage that may occur as a result of
any individual who falls asleep with FX Radio on. No warranty is
implied, expressed, congested, molested, suggested, conjugated,
emulated, isolated
infiltrated, confiscated, or any of that mess.
Basically, if bad things happen, we didn't do it!

It's back, and it's possibly worse than ever... Better? Well, it
can't get much worse, I suppose, so we'll pretend it's better than it
was, just out of interest.

P.S. An Athlon64 3400 with a gig of ram and a 250 GB hard drive is a
bit overkill for this project, at least as a dedicated box for said
project. Oh well...
I'm going to bed!

That again doesn't run Eloquence at this time, the only screenreader

Your only other option is to use either Kurzweil or OpenBook to

Subject: The Talk2 List CHARACTERISTICS OF THE BLIND

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE BLIND

The English language with its wealth of idiomatic expressions makes
the following deductions concerning the characteristics of the blind
and their daily activities possible

They may be excused for being forgetful because out of sight is out of
mind.

They are very happy; what the eye does not see the heart does not
grieve.

They are also very affectionate because love is blind.

They often ignore things by turning a blind eye to them.

They may be ignorant because they are in the dark about things, but
do not underestimate them; they've got it all taped.

They are very friendly people and like to keep in touch.

They also tend to have a real feeling for the world round about them
though they may not be able always to see eye to eye with certain
situations.

They may also sometimes lose sight of certain facts but do not
underestimate their vision. Despite being blind they can still look
forward to something and see you next week.

You may not always be able to make them see what you mean, but they
still are able to have their own view.

They are not blind to their own faults, nor to the faults of others.
You can try putting the wool over their eyes, but you may find that
very difficult.

They are so good at what they do that they can do it with their eyes
closed but if they try to burn the candle at both ends, they may burn
their fingers.

Their medium of writing is easily spotted, is not pointless, in fact
there is very much point in using braille and it is outstanding.

Blind people enjoy a social life. However, one must bear in mind that
if you take someone on a date, it will always be a blind date.

If they have too much alcohol they may get blind drunk.

Be warned: their rage and fear will always be blind rage and blind
fear.

When walking down the street at a fast pace with a white object being
tapped about, they could be called hurricanes.

An uneven pavement can be a real stumbling block.

Blind alleys will not be too much of a problem. They never walk with
blinkers on but they walk by faith and not by sight.

If you were to come across blind people from Venice they would
probably be called Venetian blinds.

They are not allowed to drive, but it might be possible, provided they
stick to blind rises and go round blind corners. Blind spots would not

present a problem for them and at night they will not be blinded by
the lights of other vehicles.

These are blind facts but I hope that no-one finds the subject too
touching and do not be so blind as those that will not see.

Perhaps all this has been an eye opener to someone. May we all not
lose sight of the fact that we are living in the age of so-called
enlightenment where visionary leadership is very important and where
care must be taken not to be blinded by things that are unimportant.
Hopefully all this has provided some light relief.

Many will recall that on July 8, 1947, witnesses claimed that an
unidentified object with five aliens aboard crashed onto a sheep and
cattle

ranch just outside Roswell, New Mexico. This is a well known incident that
many say has long been covered up by the U.S. Air Force and the federal
government.

However, you may NOT know that in the month of March 1948, exactly nine
months after that historic day the following people were born;

Albert Arnold Gore, Jr.,
Hillary Rodham,
John F. Kerry,
William Jefferson Clinton,
Howard Dean,
Nancy Pelosi,
Dianne Feinstein,
Charles E. Schumer
Barbara Boxer
See what happens when aliens breed with sheep?

This piece of information may clear up a lot of things.

  Greetings organisms

Yes the buffering that has plagued my stupid shows for the better part of
six weeks is gone! The drive's been formatted, virtually everything has been
re-instaled, and all seems to be running smoothly. So for those who have
nothing better to do, I'll be doing a test broadcast later tonight around 9PM
EDT. Feel free to write in and critique at will.

Hmm. With Avril, it seems to be like...One step forward, ten steps back.

THis sounds like an immature pile of shit. I was a little worried when I
heard that stupid girlfriend song, and now...It looks like Avril's
jumped the shark, folks...And I'm going to have to live with this album
because a few of my friends like her music...Oh god.

This from Toronto's largest newspaper; I thought we were supposed to have
love for our fellow Canadians? Huh. Guess not. Honestly...The globe
isn't usually this bitchy.

Avril's latest: Only the best damn thing if you're 14
The Globe and Mail
The Best Damn Thing is not the worst damn thing, but it is a calculated
thing -- a shallow, callow, unrefreshing thing. Avril Lavigne, the
sassy-imp pop
creation from Napanee, Ont., is a 22-year-old married woman posing as a
child and performing to an audience that counts training bras and braces
for their
teeth as their year's eventful acquisitions. Add the new album from
Lavigne to the list, and now the pink, sparkly cellphones really begin to
squeal.

The material is mostly fun and frivolous, a fact the singer readily
admits. My last record had songs that were, like, so literal, she told
USA Today,
referring to 2004's Under My Skin. This record isn't a serious diary.
It's not even really about anything I'm going through right now.

What she's going through these days is married life with Sum 41's Deryck
Whibley, her new husband, with whom she shares a newly purchased
$9.5-million L.A.
mansion. Are there tunes about her man? I have a couple of, whatever --
love songs, or whatever you want to call them, Lavigne said. Yes, Avril,
the

resolute Keep Holding On is what we call a love song.

You wouldn't know that the Complicated singer is involved in a mature
relationship, not with songs (written with the help of professional
tunesmiths) that
have her bashing boys, being bratty and looking for catfights down at the
mall. On the drummy, driving first single,

Girlfriend (with the cheerleading Hey Mickey
beat), Lavigne is full of herself. She's like so whatever, sings
Lavigne, in bitch mode. You could do so much better.

Like Girlfriend, the following I Can Do Better comes swift with tom-toms
and expletives deleted, with our helium-voiced heroine giggling and
growling to
an old Billy Idol riff. The acoustic strummed intro of the pop-rocking
Runaway sounds familiar as well; here, Lavigne is having a bad day. The
title track
is a swirl of fun, with a highly confident star (oddly employing a faux
Brit accent) cheered on by that pom-pom squad again: Give us an A, give
us a

V.

Give us a break, which is what we have with the strings and sobs of When
You're Gone
and the piano-serious Innocence, with its Sarah McLachlan-like vocal
nuances. But we're back to merriment on the hip hop and punk lite of I
Don't Have to
Try, with its fast churn and choir of backup-singing chipmunks. Lavigne
is fun and assertive, telling her boy that she's the one who knows the
dance and
she's the one who wears the pants. Don't you disagree, 'cause you know
it's all about me.

Is it all about Avril? Of course it is -- she's the scene, she's the
drama queen. Is she having fun with her bratty, spit-at-the-photographer
reputation?
You would suppose so. Is this album of any interest to any listener over
14? Probably not. Does that even matter? No, it doesn't mean a damn
thing.

Hello. This is a very on-topic message merely to ask why it is that the
cecular groupy society of talkative squeeky chese pumps only now, after
seconds of talks, signatures, piece-missions, lego buildings crumpling to
nothing and finally the greatest and hugest, most diabolicle and uncouth
boozlle, put all efforts into sitting down with 100 percent ifficiency and
then jumping onto the wall over there, when that could have all been dealt
with in a most queezy manner by the subordinate universal plug packs to be
found almost anywhere on the planet?
I ask you fellow talk2 members, why? I can't find any solution and to
stop this sort of thing happening again, especially all over my nice
wooden floor, I ask for your advice and help at this absolutely difficult
moment of my life.
Any unusual members to be found free-floating on the ceiling are to be
tied up and left to dangle by their toes from the zanfup light fixtures as
soon as possible.

Any questions? Any answers for that matter?
