I just visited the Spamcop web site, I clicked the Download Trial link and it took me to the Mailwasher Pro download page. Now from what I can gather Spamcop is not a software program, it's a company or service where you report spam to. I use it myself with Mailwasher Pro and if I click the report box for any spam I get that they don't already know about it's Spamcop that it's reported to. If it was a spam filtering program I doubt they'd direct people to a competitors download page. Correct me if I'm wrong but Spamcop is not Spam trapping software, it's just a place to report it to? See attached for a complete description as to exactly what Spamcop is. If so, what actual software do you use to trap spam in the first place? Like I said I use Spamcop myself, I just didn't know it. Filter losing hotkey.
Hello, I have a filter that creates messages that should be sent to SpamCop, nothing special about it (included in end of mail). It responds only to the hotkey ALT-CTRL-S (AltGr-S). I have copied and pasted this filter onto three of my accounts and attached the same hotkey to all of the three accounts. And here comes the tricky part, sometimes the hotkey for the filter on the first account (only this account) stops responding and nothing happens, if I go into the Sorting Office the filter has the hotkey set, and if I just reapply the hotkey the filter will work again. If I create a a couple of new filter that toggle the message flag for example and try them I will get the same result, but it does not happen all the time and then only for the first account. I do not have that much experience in filters like this, so if I'm doing anything wrong it may fix the problem. TB! Norton Antivirus 2005 and connection centre startup problem.
Hello, I've an odd problem with running The Bat and NAV2005 and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas or come across the problem before. I upgraded NAV2000 to NAV2005 the other day for some strange reason which I cannot yet fathom out!* On starting up TB the splash screen opens followed by the main TB 3 pane window. At this stage the Connection Centre would normally open but it doesn't. I get a musical 'ping' followed by a typically useful windows(bat) error message of 'System Error Code 87' 'The parameter is in correct' with an invition to click it's sole 'OK' button. On clicking the OK button all I'm left with is the main 3 pane window. Email continues to be collected and sent and on clicking 'Get New Mail' the CC appears. But in the accounts column on my left the slider button is at the bottom but the list isn't and I have to use the mouse wheel to scroll down. If I select an account read I can read the messages but I cannot get back into the accounts list. I have to click the window button at the bottom of the screen to be able to get back into the accounts list. Very tiresome! Turning off NAV email protection makes no difference but turning off the auto-protect does. So in effect I turn off NAV to get TB to function normally. Just wondered if anyone had come across this before? *I know that NAV is sometimes considered the spawn of satan so I'm not looking for 'You shouldn't have installed NAV2005' plse. :) Also I know I've got an old Bat, but I like using an old Bat as you can get a good score with an old bat sometimes! -- David Stone (UK) mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] The Bat! Re: Proposal for spam filters
Tony Boom: [MailWasher's Mail Bouncer] is a feature I never use. Good! My point is that the software suggest and promotes a feature that adds to the spam problem: Say that a spam is misusing your address as Sender. Would you dislike Mailwasher to accuse you of spamming and thus bounce back unwanted email to the spammer [that's you!] so it looks as if [their] address is not valid? Yes, you would! Yet, for those that use this feature, MailWasher is sending out thousands of false accusations (bounces) every day to innocent bystanders! Those are people that had their mail address forged into a spam as Sender. This is something Mail- Washer _promotes_! Such a feature looks good on paper - and that's why MailWasher uses it as an argument to go with their software! In reality though, the feature adds to the problem as soon as innocent bystanders are receiving messages accusing them of sending mail to people they have never contacted. Tony Boom: You don't need Mailwasher to bounce mail though, The Bat is more than capable of doing that on it's own with a simple QT. I wouldn't suggest bounce mail after reception UNLESS one is absolutely sure the message is really going back to the correct Sender. Best way of bouncing a mail is at SMTP-level. Marck D Pearlstone: Spamcop do filter spam for you, but only if you use a spamcop.net email address, which you are not doing, so it's not that. In the stricked sense, this could be true. However, it is quite easy to create a system that checks with the SpamCop.Net's database whether an IP/URL (relay/spamvertised site) is listed WITHOUT having a subscription. You don't need to have a subscription with SpamCop.Net to do lookups. There are always (kegal) ways around things. :) Tony Boom: I quite like the idea of [SpamCop filtering] for 16 quid a year, what do you think? I like it to - but as I have said earlier in this thread: One can (and should) not trust it fully. I use SpamCop as an nominator. SpamCop lacks a lot of important functionality. You can not trust SpamCop alone, you can not trust SpamAssassin alone, etc. etc. Personally, I spent a lot of time creating a system here - I would say it has much of the funtionality Spam- Cop lacks. :) I reckon some of the solutions I have implemented would be too demanding on a system like SpamCop considering the amount of mail they are to handle every day (I remember I was really surprised when they added SpamAssassin to their filterings). Tony Boom: It's my NTL account I get most spam in, dozens and dozens of them. That's why I don't use it anymore. Would you want to try it with my system? I can collect your NTL spam/ham and send it back to you - I would welcome test users this way. Templates
I've noticed a slight difference in the way my templates are handled in v3.5. All appears well in MicroEd. However, if I use html or Windows editors, inserting any template with a %cursor macro places a garbage character where the cursor is supposed to be and the cursor appears at the end of the inserted template. This forces me to reposition the cursor to the garbage character and delete it. The cursor is then properly placed. In v3.0.1.33 this anomoly was present in the html editor only - the MicroEd and Windows editors worked as expected. Can anyone confirm or should I do something different? I did not know, where to send it, but as I see Stefan (Tanurkov) here, I decided to post it here: We are translating the new v.3.5 LNG file to Hungarian. My suggestion would be to Ritlabs that when you change something in the interface that needs some translation, you should have a webpage (a single page), that would contain _every_ text (like English.lnc) as link, and clicking that link would jump to a screenshot showing the place where that text is used in the program... With this new format of v3.5 LNG file I know, that some text is reused many part of the program, in that case that text would appear multiple times on that webpage linked to the different screenshots... Moving Folders Around in Account Tree

I wanted to move a folder from 2nd level into a different primary catagory on 3rd level. This would have been a simple operation before. Now there is move up move down move in move out. Each time you punch the three buttons, you manage to move the folder one step. When you get to the end of the group where it is nested, you have to move it out to the level of the next group. then you can jump to the bottom of the next group, and when you get to the bottom of of the group where you want to next, you can move in, then up one step at a time.
