Hello Thomas,

Ah! :)
No, I don't have any username and password for the server.
See http://news.cis.dfn.de/, they have changed names.
Just for testing purposes, could you name a server that does not
require authorisation?
You can find a few here:
Hello Roel,
I've found a fairly easy way to do this:

That's basically the same I do.

Hello Clive,
I can't get it to work at all. It's probably me but are there any
tricks to setting it up? I've used the defaults but I can't even
collect a newsgroup list.
The program is almost as simple as the mechanism of a spoon, have you
read HELP?
Be a bit more specific, defaults for

Hello Clive,
OK. It's now working.
Great! :)
but MyGate seems to want port 110 only.
That's the default when you create a gate, but it will accept anything.

Hello Allen,
But the next time I checked my mail/the newsgroup, it wants
to download -all- of the messages in all of the groups, not just the
x-number. am I doing something wrong in my setup, or . . . what?
It should download x-number max for each subscribed newsgroup, this has
worked fine
Trying to figure out why I would want to even consider using something
other than Xnews -- kind of grows on people like TB! does.

Hello Allen,
Because it DID download all. First time I checked my mail, I pulled
100 messages. Ten minutes later, it refreshed . . . now, I have about
2500 messages per group.
Sorry, I have no idea why this may have happened.

Hello Allen,
I've now done that, and tested it on a few other groups and
all is working correctly

This is quite a nice usenet solution.
It is certainly for me. As a matter of fact, I have already un-installed
MailTraq4Free that I have been using for about a year and a half.

Hello Peter,
That would work except I don't use a domain address on usenet (to try
to limit spam to postmaster@), but I guess this is the only way to do
it.
I also use a fake domain (one that doesn't exist) on usenet, and TB uses
this fake domain for Msg IDs. So, for newsgroups, I use this
