Specific with that (those) programs then? Sorry, I don't use those...

Well, since I use them both a lot, those are the ones I see affected,
so I included that info in case the problem had something to do with
their 'compatibility' with TB!

I suppose the problem won't have anything to do with this, then:

 ,--/ from a message in TBBETA \
 | I had the same problem on my machine. The new Alphas (Betas?) destroy
 | Mapi32.dll and cause the following problems.
 |
 | a) cannot send mail from programs like MSWord, Corel, Power Point etc
 | b) destroy the ability of RIM Blackberry software to work correctly on
 | my machine.
 | c) causes instability on the machine in general
 |
 | If this problem could be resolved, I think the Alpha will work well.
 |
 | In the meantime, here is a fix that I've used that works extremely
 | well.
 |
 | Tools to fix the mapi32.dll file
 |
 | http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;813602
 `-8---

Personally, I did not have the above problem. Going back from .07 or .08 to
.03 solved them problem for me.

There was a small discussion with Marek a few months ago about this
MAPI problem, but it wasn't exactly as you described. I have had
problems with the MAPI interface with all programs from Esoteric
Technologies, and Rising Sun Solutions, as well as 40tude, where the
program freezes (window of program becomes blank, white screen). The
change with the last few betas of TB! added that the new email doesn't
even open. In 3.80.06, if you try to email a document from within Open
Office, the Microsoft product opens.

The fix mentioned in the TBBETA message you quoted talks about Outlook
which I don't have on my system, so I'm not sure how it could help me.
Thank you for trying, Mark. :-)

I have tried to unsub threw the website, but it didn't do the job.
I have switched to using Microsoft Outlook XP.
I'll try TheBat again after a few new releases.
The Bat needs to work out some more of its display bugs as well as the
ability to customize the Toolbars.
The Graphics need to be changed desperately... The icons in the bat are
ugly. Take a look at some of the icons in Outlook and Outlook
Express...for that matter, even check out Netscape's Icons, they are
even a big improvement over the bats icons.
Keep up the good work guys, and use some of that money your making from

Oh, and one more thing... You might try a different name for the
software... Such as MailManager by 'theBat'

Not sure I follow what the problem is. I have a v505 and I expected

expecting to only get the unread messages on the Palm? Is there a
setting you changed to make it do that (I like keeping both Read and

Re[2]: MAPI problem

2002-05-12 Thread Roberto Baibich

How can you tell that all the mail is being sent to your palm each
time? Is there a log that lists each msg that is sync'd?

By the timings I took with both Eudora and The Bat!, using the
same mailbox (all messages are read, deleted all messages in the
Palm unit before hotsync'n w/ each email proggie).

Eudora 1st hotsync: 3min17s
Eudora 2nd hotsync: 2s
The Bat! 1st hotsync: 3min18s
The Bat! 2nd hotsync: 3min18s

That's why I think that I'm having every message sent everytime
I hotsync with The Bat!.

I have noticed a couple of oddities

 1. You want to have TB the active window during the mail sync, or it
is 4-5 times slower. I think this is an issue with how TB has
implemented MAPI? but am not sure.

 2. The read/unread flag on the Palm device is changed to match what is
the TB Inbox. Kind of a pain, but I haven't needed that
functionality recently, so have not pursued it.

JA I'm not sure I'm understanding why the command line is not desirable.
JA If I understand correctly (I probably don't), you are creating the
JA message completely in your other program, and you want to import it
JA into the outbox to send, right? If that is the case, have you tried
JA the /mail switch with the Text= option?

The thing is, I may have dozens, if not more, messages to send at a
given time and I think it would be rather kludgy to run TB! each time
to send out each of the messages.

JA If you don't mind sending the text file as an attachment, you could
JA always call TB with the filename as a parameter,
JA eg. "thebat.exe message.txt".

Yep, good idea if I were to mass mail everyone using the same text
body of the message, but I am not. :-(

JA Are unique names used for the file names? How much of the message is
JA defined by the calling program (eg Headers, Body, etc)?

ALL of the message is defined by the calling program. Yes, unique
names(filenames) are used.

JA Could you create a folder with a template that includes a temp file,
JA and use the /Focus option to use this folder from your calling
JA program? Then you'd just need some tiny txt file to drop into the
JA folder to create a new message.

I am not sure I understand this last point.

KS At least for me... You may indeed need to install MAPI for
KS Agent first, if you've never used Agent with MAPI before. On
KS http://www.geocities.com/ResearchTriangle/Node/9157/agentmapi.html
KS you'll find instructions on how to do this, as Ming-Li
KS kindly pointed out. A few years ago I run this method once
KS and ever after Eudora (bye, bye, unfaithful lover!) acted as
KS my default mail client from within Agent.

Re[2]: MAPI again

2000-10-26 Thread Roy Jackson

Hi Karin,

Thanks for your message. I was trying to set The Bat! to work with Corel
Wordperfect. In order to do that you have to edit the user profiles through
...Mail. As I can't do this i don't know if it works. However i could edit the
settings before I installed the MAPI dll for TB so I must have done something.

Best wishes,

KS Do you get the same error message when you don't go to the

Re[2]: MAPI issue?

2000-10-23 Thread Quin Selman

Hello A.,

ACM I've noted that I sometimes have a little problem with things not
ACM running smoothly with some apps when dealing with the popup account
ACM query. The way to bypass this is to make your main account the default
ACM account for external application calls to create a message. To do this
ACM go into your main accounts properties and enable the option "This
ACM account is the default for 'Mailto:' URL's". This will get rid of that
ACM account query since you have now explicitly assigned an account to
ACM handle this external stuff.

Your suggestion cured the problems I described in an earlier message
in this thread. Thanks.

I haven't yet tested all the MAPI-capable apps I have, but I know that
NoteTab Pro, MS Excel 97 and MS PowerPoint 97 work OK. MS Word97 still
doesn't work. It requires me to shut it down with CTL+ALT+DEL.

Best regards,

MHP Also I cannot seem to figure out how to have The Bat automatically
MHP check for mail.

TB I can't answer the MAPI part but go to Account Properties Options,
TB tick the little box that says 'Periodical checking each' and tell it how
TB often you want it to auto check for mail.

And don't forget to restart your engine! g
