Re: [tw5] Re: Ipfs with TiddlyWiki

2019-11-10 Thread Xavier Maysonnave
Hi Tony,

The principles you described is called pining.
By default everything you add is pined however behind the scene Ipfs
implements several feature.
As far as I remember pined resources are not garbage collected however I
provide a feature call unpin who can unpin previous version when saved.
There is a lot of limitation though. infura do not let you unpin resources
for example however Ipfs companion let you unpin previous version.
infura and ipfs companion do not let use ipns for instance.
If you want the full Ipfs features you need to setup a server (generate
ipns keys and use ipns).
In the meantime Ipfs companion and Ipfs desktop are an easy to setup
solution.

The use case you described about exporting tiddlers could be interresting.
Let me think about that. Right now I work on Metamask and PKI encryption. I
also need to work on my server to provide a community server and there
comes the login, identification issue. I need to prototype and evaluate
what's available.

The idea behind Ipfs is to deploy servers. That way you increase the
overall available servers and the network resilience. One the principle is
that a resource is not automatically broadcasted over the network. Only
requested resources are distributed. This is a reason why the default is
infura.io where you upload resources and the gateway is another server. The
time to propagate could be from 2mn to 6mn.

2019-11-10 Thread @TiddlyTweeter
Ciao Evan

Very good tool! Great for writing.

My initial feedback concerns cosmetics.

Whilst *"$:/plugins/ebalster/sections -> Settings"* has a setting *("Enable
Filter") *that lets you switch-off the sectioning in view mode, but then
you loose all the connections ...

... maybe an option for *View Mode *that hides* (1) the buttons (2)
indentation (3) boxes etc... *
In other words, that the result in View Mode would look the the same as it
would be with normal manually entered transclusions.
The advantage would be sectioned editing, yet normal viewing.

Hope that is clear.

Best wishes & Tx!

[tw5] Import from Known URI useful trick and improvement desired

2019-11-10 Thread TonyM
Folks,

On windows and in FireFox If you capture a link to a tiddler wiki or json
file, perhaps even a tiddler.

   - Copy and address from the browser address bar
   - Copy a full path and filename from explorer
   - Use file:///C:/Data/ in the browser and locate a file and copy link
   location

You can press the import button and paste the link into the open dialogue
eg:

   - "\\Studio8d\Intranet\TW5
   Intranet\MyBundles\system-tags-more.bundle.json"
   - http://192.168.1.81/Development/Quick-config.json (On tiddlerServer)
   - C:\Data\TW5\Development\Quick-config.json
   - file:///C:/Data/TW5/Development/Quick-config.json

The above is a useful set of tips. However I would like to know if

*There is a way to trigger the import button such that it opens with one of
the above links prepopulated, thus all that is required is to hit open.*

   - This would allow comprehensive resources to be made available within
tiddlywikis that can be obtained with a click or two.
   - We could all publish useful content in out wikis with the full path to
a resource to import on demand.
   - Perhaps this could be done in an iframe but the import takes place in
   the parent.
   - This still demands user intervention - Click Open so hopefully it does
not come foul of browser security.

In this thread
 I am
keen to get this feature also into a bookmarklet.

Thanks tony

Some thoughts that come to mind;

   - Publishing plugins and JSON files as IPFS files, and being able to get
   the latest across multiple tiddlywikis.
   - Exporting a JSON file of tiddlers to an IPFS file from multiple WIkis
and being able to import them (With import controls) to a master wiki.

I liked the cloudflare link you gave
I am curious how the IPFS servers would cope with very large volumes and
who pays for it if its free. You could imagine the whole internet going
this way one day.

Thanks for the heads up

[tw5] Anyone good with bookmarklets? QUick config of tiddlywikis

2019-11-10 Thread TonyM
Folks,

I have a nice little JSON of settings to drop on a tiddlywiki to see things
how I like it. Drop the attached json on tiddlywiki.com or an empty.html to
see.

I did a little research such as here

 and
is seems plausible that we could make a bookmarklet that would allow me to
drop a specified json file onto a tiddlywiki from the bookmarks I would not
even need to go looking for my json file to drag and drop it, just select
from the bookmarks. If we can point to json files on our local disk or on a
server such as provided by TiddlyServer it would be an easy way to
distribute tools, tiddlers, data, plugins and macros to one or more wikis.

I use FireFox and Windows 10 but unfortunately do not know yet how to write
bookmarklets so thought I would put it out there.

The Next release of Tiddlywiki will reduce the need to save and reload some
plugins as well, so in combination with such a bookmarklet effort it may be
quite easy to make any readonly wiki open with your prefered settings.

Thanks and regards in advance if you can help.

Tony

Re: [tw5] Re: Ipfs with TiddlyWiki

2019-11-10 Thread Xavier Maysonnave
Hi Tony,

Right now this is the standard behavior as the File saver.
It means that everyone can save and get a new copy.

When you save your wiki, the whole content is stored on Ipfs.
However you can store your attachments individually over Ipfs, encrypted or
not.

Ipfs files are immutable it means that each time you save a content you
create a new content and get a new ipfs identifier.

Team work around a wiki is an interesting topic.
For instance I'm thinking to a solution where a team or a set of people
will be able to update ENS.
I'm not at that stage right now.
Definitely on my todo though.

By the way did you play with the plugin ?

Thanks

[tw5] Re: Ipfs with TiddlyWiki

2019-11-10 Thread TonyM
Xaiver,

Thanks for those references. When using IPFS;

   - Does it save the whole wiki as a single file, or as independent
   tiddlers?
   - Is there a way to control who can save and who can't?
   - Will we be able to save data such as current logged in user and deal
   with possible contention?

Thanks heaps for sharing.

Tony

The documentation refers to the order of "tagged tiddlers"... not the order
of the tags themselves. Thus, if you have three tiddlers, "foo", "bar",
and "baz", all tagged with "A", you can create a tiddler named "A", in
which you define a field named "list", with a value of "baz foo bar".
Then, if you view any of those tiddlers and click on the tag pill labeled
"A", you will see a droplist showing the *tagged* tiddlers in the order,
"baz, foo, bar"

Of course, this is not what you are asking for.

The display of the tags themselves is defined
here: $:/core/ui/ViewTemplate/tags, which contains:
<$reveal type="nomatch" stateTitle=<> text="hide" tag="div"
retain="yes" animate="yes">
<$list
filter="[all[current]tags[]sort[title]]" template="$:/core/ui/TagTemplate"
storyview="pop"/>

As you can see, the $list filter definition used here includes
"sort[title]". Thus, the names of the tags are always sorted
alphabetically.

To apply a custom sort order to the tag names, you will need to modify
$:/core/ui/ViewTemplate/tags, like this:
<$reveal type="nomatch" stateTitle=<> text="hide" tag="div"
retain="yes" animate="yes">

   <$list filter="[all[current]tags[]] +[enlist{MyTagOrder}]"
template="$:/core/ui/TagTemplate" storyview="pop"/>
   <$list filter="[all[current]tags[]] -[enlist{MyTagOrder}]
+[sort[title]]" template="$:/core/ui/TagTemplate" storyview="pop"/>

Then, define a tiddler named "MyTagOrder", containing the names of the tags
you want to have listed in a specific order.

For example, suppose you tag a tiddler with the following tags:
foo bar baz A B C
Then, using the standard tag display code, the tags would appear, sorted by
title, as:
A B bar baz C foo

and, if you define MyTagOrder containing:
foo bar
then, using the modified tag display code, the tags would appear this would
appear as:
foo bar A B baz C

Q.E.D.

[tw5] Re: Reordering Tags

2019-11-10 Thread TonyM
mageykun

Take a "tagename" you have used and add it to this macro instead or tagname

<>

This will create a tag pill, you can click this and see the tiddlers with
the tag, or open a tiddler by the name of the tag.

If you have more than one tiddler tagged in the tag pill popup you can drag
and drop the list order. This does the same as the manual instruction to
create a list field.

The list field will be created inside the tagname tiddler.

But any tag pill in the tag manager also allows this ordering.

Tony

[tw5] Shared, synced collection of macros between multiple wikis?

2019-11-10 Thread David Allen
I have two wikis which both have a large number of macros that are common
between them. Both are hosted on tiddlyspot. I'd like to be able to
modify one of these common macros in one wiki, then have it automatically
update in the other wiki without having to worry about which ones I've
re-imported or overwriting newer versions of macros I forgot I wrote. Is
it possible to do this within TiddlyWiki on Tiddlyspot?

[tw5] Re: How to create multiple entries in a data tiddler?

2019-11-10 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
Since you're writing to the same indexes on the same tiddler, it overwrites
them.

There's no tools in TW for handling nested data tidders, but you can use

Joshua Fontany's JSON Mangler:

https://joshuafontany.github.io/TW5-JsonMangler/

Then you can make $index=level1/Title, $index=level2/Title, etc. and create
nested data tiddlers.

Good luck!

[tw5] How to create multiple entries in a data tiddler?

2019-11-10 Thread si
Hi all.

I'm struggling to figure out how to create both multiple objects in a
JSONTiddler and nested objects.

Here is an example of some code to create an entry in the JSONTiddler
"myData".

<$edit-text tiddler="$:/state/enter-text"/>

<$button>
<$wikify name=title-value text="<> - <>" >
<$action-setfield $tiddler=myData $index="Title" $value=<>/>
<$action-setfield $tiddler=myData $index="Text"
$value={{$:/state/enter-text}}/>
<$action-setfield $tiddler=myData $index="Date" $value=<>/>
Save

At the moment when I press "Save" it overwrites any data already in
"myData". How can I change my code so that I can click "Save" and have a
new entry added to "myData" each time?

It's also not clear to me how to create nested objects so if someone could
point me in right direction on that aswell I would really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance for your help. Si.

In Chrome, you can take a screenshot by using ctrl-shift-I (to open the
Developer Tools), followed by ctrl-shift-P (opens a list of Developer
functions).

Then, type in "screenshot" to reduce the list to show only the
screenshot-related functions.

There are four screenshot functions available:
1 Capture area screenshot
2 Capture full size screenshot
3 Capture node screenshot
4 Capture screenshot

Selecting option #1, "area screenshot", gives you a large "plus" (+) cursor
that you can use to select an area of the current window display.
click-and-drag the cursor to highlight the desired display area . When you
release the mouse button, you will be prompted for a file to save the
screen into. Chrome then creates a PNG image file on your local
harddrive. Import that image into TiddlyWiki in the usual fashion.

Selecting options #2 or #4 automatically capture the entire window display
without selecting an area, and then prompts for a file to save into.

To use option #3, "node screenshot", first right-click on a page element
and select "inspect", then Ctrl-shift-P and type in "node screenshot".
This will take a screenshot of the visible portion of the currently
inspected element. Note that if you already have the developer tools
window open, you can select ANY element directly from the developer
window's "Elements" panel and then use ctrl-shift-P with "node screenshot"
to capture a PNG image of the visible portion of that element.

The trick is to make a date time stamp that you click when you action it. E.g.
weekly-date and make a list that only lists items with a weekly date older than
7 days. This way you do not need to update the date field except when you touch
it.

Hi,
As TT pointed out I also use IrfanView on
Windows. I think I use it since 2000 or even earlier. It has a lot of
filters ... as plugins AND batch processing!

With screenshots, I think the most important thing is. Consistent initial
size.

Eg: If your wiki is viewed on a 1920x1080 full-hd screen, imo it is enough,
to create full-screen screenshots with the same size *maximum*. Smaller may
be better. Computer screens can handle that well and the file size will be
about 200kByte GIF or PNG per page. ... IF you have text content.

On desktop browsers those images will need to be internally scaled down. ..
So if your users are mainly PC users, you may even go down with initial
size here. If images are scaled down by browsers, it always creates a "poor
feeling". Scaling up is less of a problem. (That's a very personal point of
view :)

Most mobile phones have higher native resolution than that, so browsers
won't even need to internally scale them down if shown.

just some thoughts
